reichel was one of the best pk killers last season, ranked second in the league. he's not that useless however, this doesn't mean i'd want him to stay either...just pointing out his good side

If it comes down to having either: Reichel or Lindros....... who do you pick Pam? Salary would be about the same..... Reichel or Lindros? Well I'm going to say NEITHER!! I don't want Lindros with his concussion prone head (he's had more than Alyn so he's more prone), his baggage, his attitude or his parents, any where near the Leafs. Reichel needs to go back to Europe, plain and simple. sweetie it's okay. Messier isn't going to be signed by the Sharks. he's only there so the Sharks can get a comp. pick i'm not too keen w/having Lindros here either, however, it could turn out okay. Yeah I know, but after what Rusty posted, I had to give my input. As for Lindros, well see what I told TG.

Pam, I really believe Eric's parents get a bum rap. The truth is they are model citizens who after having two healthy boys went and adopted a severely handicapped daughter. (mentally and phyically) Eric and Brett dote over her and are very protective. They are a good family. Sure the parents have meddled but so did Collen Howe, so did Walter Gretzky, so did Messier's father. This country needs more families like the Lindros's not less. Don't believe everything you read, there is another side to all stories.

Don't believe everything you read, there is another side to all stories. I'm sure some of it was a bum rap so Bobby Clarke could make himself look better, but Eric is a spoiled brat and has gotten away with things no other player has. Parents should be involved with their kids hockey, but sometimes the parents go too far. I have no problem with Eric's parent being involved with him. They should be. What I have a problem with is Eric's attitude, the things he has gotten away with, and his parents being TOO involved. I think it was a mistake for his parents to be his Agents. I think that is what kept him from growing up and getting a better attitude. At some point a kid has to make a separation with the Parents. I could be wrong (I am lots of times) but maybe why Eric never grew up is because he didn't make that separation. Some players would be able to make that separation even if they had their parents as their agent, but Eric seems to be immature and I think that's why he has acted the way he has (but I could be wrong. wouldn't be the first time). I guess you can tell I really don't like him (as a player).

I am of 2 minds on this topic. 1) Lindros has gotten away with nothing, he has followed the RULES to a T, when both times he followed his convictions he could have gone to court, and WON. He didn't, he worked within the system. As for his parents, it seems like it is mostly innuendo, and both Roger Neilson and Craig Ramsay said they NEVER had even a minor issue with them, I believe them far more than Clarke. 2) Lindros at any more than 2 mill per is a complete and utter mistake. His bonus structure needs to be on performance, not games played! If we sign Lindros, then Dougy and Niewendyk should not be. Possibly 1, but definitely not both. Signing both without Lindros is a huge gamble, when you think we'd have Roberts, Niewy, and Gilmour ~ all 40ish, with questionable health. BIG hearts, but QUESTIONABLE health. That's 25% of your forwards. Two of them maybe, NOT 3.

Not to be-labour the Lindros saga but everything he is accussed of ,not reporting to the Greyhounds and not reporting to the Nordique was done BEFORE Lindros. At least in Lindro's case he told both teams well in advance of the drafts he wouldn't report. In junior hockey I would suggest each year 5 to 10 players pull the same stunt. As for the demanding the trade to Toronto only, that happens all the time as well. In fact Vancouver had Gretzky before L.A. and were politely told Gretzky wouldn't report. The media has made these ALL Lindros issues when in fact he wasn't the first in ANY of them. At least in Quebec he went down and put on their jersey and actually said he would sign a 1 year contract with them as long as they traded him. He was looking for a way for them to save face. Mario on the other hand sat in the stands when Pittsburgh drafted him and said he would NEVER play there. Of course once they opened the vault he did a 180. Lindros has played for Canada EVERY time he has been asked. Mario never went as Junior and didn't jump on Canada's bandwagon till 1987. Yet he is God and Eric is a chump. I don't get it !!!

I used to like Mario in the beginning, but over the years I've grown not to like him. After his comeback, ESPN/ESPN 2 would cancel the games they were showing so they could have "Mario's" games. They Mario'd us to death and they even canceled showing a Leafs game to show Mario. Everyone (NHL and ESPN not the fans) were raving about Mario and acted like he was the only team in the NHL. I had been happy to hear he was returning UNTIL he returned and then I got fed up with Mario within 2 weeks of his return, and I get more fed up with him all the time.

I am in agreement with ND and FW, not much more I can add to their comments, very well put and informative.
I really think that the majority of the crap that has swirled around Eric since he hit the scene has been spin doctored way beyond the normal player/media crap. Most of it we can attribute to Mr Bob (the knob) Clarke, who was pissed that he actually had a player stand up to him and call his bluff.
