I don't know what it is, but being on Leafschat causes me some really strange problems. After about 5 minutes of browsing, my computer will lock up the browser and I have to ctrl+alt+dlte to close it. It's only this site.

Okay. Question time. I'm sure you aren't with AOL because of your email address. AOL people have problems with Pro Boards. Also, some browsers have problems with Pro Boards. What OS do you use, as in what windows version or is it MAC? What browser do you use? Do you get anything besides the freeze, do you get any error message? Let me know all these things and anything else you notice, and I'll check with Patrick (ProBoards Owner). I have to have as exact information as you can give me.

Also, we'll need to see your Driver's License, Registration, and proof of liability insurance.

Windows XP SP2 IE explorer 6 (whatever the latest one is) The only firewall I run is XP's with my router. There's no errors related to this in the event viewer, and nothing pops up. In fact all I get is a complete freeze on the Leafschat window. All other open windows continue to work without a problem and i have to go into Task Manager to close the Leafschat window. Right clicking it on the task bar or closing via the red x does not work.
Very weird.

Okay.
I forgot to ask you one question. When you first came back after the Upgrade (on May 10th) to Version 4 Software, did it happen right away, or did it just start? I need to nail down the day (as near as you can remember) it started.
I'll report it as soon as I know exactly when these freeze problem on LC started for you. When I get an answer from Support, I'll let you know.

Happened after the upgrade. I'm just now mentioning them.

Hey everyone, if any of you are experiencing the same problem as MB, even if only occasionally, I need to know right away. Thanks.

MB, I got a reply from one of the Moderators. I'm going to paste his reply here so you can read it.
Theres nothing i see there which immediately stands out, i was expecting the use of PNG's which some IE browsers crash on.
There is nothing in the home page's which have anything in which any normal site wouldnt, hover inside the boards, there are things like
<!--inthecrease.com ticker--> <applet code="sText.class" width="500" height="30" codebase="http://www.inthecrease.com/java"> <param name="background" value="FFFFFF"> <param name="data" value="http://www.inthecrease.com/java/nhl.txt"> <param name="defaultMessage" value="Contacting ITC Network for Scores and Headlines ....."> <param name="defaultURL" value="http://www.inthecrease.com"> <param name="font" value="Arial"> <param name="foreground" value="000000"> <param name="frame" value="_self"> <param name="highlite" value="D20000"> <param name="pause" value="3"> <param name="refresh" value="2"> <param name="size" value="11"> <param name="wait" value="3000"> </applet> <!--inthecrease.com ticker-->
Obviously i have no way of looking at what is contained within that program, but its most likely that its a java handling problem at his end, since this code is the only thing non standard.
Either try removing the instances of that code, and see how that performs, or ask him to disable java in his browser Tools->Internet Options->Advanced->Untick the java box
If it still crashes (which i doubt it will) we can try and look further, if it doesnt crash, then we found their problem, which unfortunatly we wouldnt be able to fix, since the code provided cant be changed, its a ready made java program. It would either need to be removed for their benifit, the member suffer, or you contact the creators
This is of course asuming this is the cause.
MB, do this right now:
but its most likely that its a java handling problem at his end, since this code is the only thing non standard.
Either try removing the instances of that code, and see how that performs, or ask him to disable java in his browser Tools->Internet Options->Advanced->Untick the java box
Then let me know if it still happens.
The ticker apparently isn't around any longer. I have been meaning to remove it, but I don't want to remove it at the same time as you disable the java. If we did both things and you don't freeze any longer, we wouldn't know what fixed your problem. If you still freeze after doing what Martyn suggests, I will delete the ticker. Then you can let me know if it continues. If you still have a freeze problem after the java and ticker, I will go back to the Support Forum for more help.

Well Pam, I turned off java and surfed around this site for a good 10 minutes, clicking on a bunch of different topics and not a single problem. I would have to say that is likely the problem and it would make sense. I beleive I have a 3rd party java program that runs whenever the browser needs to deal with it. It obviously didn't agree with this site, so when I show up here I'll have to disable it. Extra work for me either way, but at least I know what it is now. Thanks for the help.

OK, let me put my problems in here also. I can post in the other folders, but not the Leafs main folder. I get a Java loading failed error. I thought it was the entire site until I just posted in the non-Leafs section.
I had even emailed JAVA and got their input. My newly updated Java works fine and tested out perfectly.
I just tried again and got a message saying something like a Nullpointer exception and then it was replaced with
"Loading Java Applet Failed."
I had a lot to say about the signing of Lindros and was disappointed that I couldn't post my thoughts. Maybe I will open up a new thread in the Non-Leafs section if this can't be resolved.
Thanks Pam for your efforts here. I know how frustrating it is from my own forum hosting problems. LOL

Pam, I was able to post from my computer at work. It may have to do with my computer at home and Java.

Since you can post okay from work, it is something to do with your Java at home. Can you deinstall it and reinstall it and see if that fixes it?

Pam, I just tried to reply to what you said about Steven on that post I made from work, but got the same Java error. I am not sure if I should uninstall the Java or not. It works here on this folder. It must have something to do with it being the latest Java. Strange how some folders act differently than others here.
Anway, at least I got my say in about the concussions that Lindros has had and my grievence against Stevens. I heard that he may even be considering retiring. He hasn't decided whether to come back or not, from what I read.

So far I haven't been able to get an answer for you. I will try again. As for Stevens, yep, I read he might retire. I wish he would. But if he doesn't then I hope he doesn't forget his concussion experience. Maybe, just maybe, he will change his ways on the ice.
