Full link He could be signed as early as today. An Arvedson signing probably paves the way for Tucker being traded - which I hate

1 more reason to hate mgmt. Where does the insanity end?? I honestly believe Tucker would have his best season for us now that Corosn is gone and he could concentrate on hockey. Are we in the Twilight Zone'??

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this the same puke who spit on Tucker last year? And the same idiot who tried to goad Domi into a fight, only to turn tail when Domi got serious? The Leafs want this guy???
F@¢k off!!!

This is the same guy that speared Domi in the groin, then ran away. Domi punched him in the face, braking his jaw. How's this move going to be for team chemistry Why replace a tough, mean SOB like Tucker...with a no good, dirty A$$clown like Magnus . We don't need skilled forwards....Tucker has his flaws, but I'll take him over Arvedson anyday. Heck, I'd take Branaby over Magnus anyday...at least Tucker & Barnaby care & show some heart. Our older guys, if this crap does not imrpove, will want out by the trade deadline. Eddie will be pi$$ed drunk, due to the frustration of playing without a D, and the rest of the Vets., will want as far away from this pathetic franchise as they can. I sure hope they got a real good plan. Trading tucker for a decent D-man, then replacing him with Arvedson will NOT improve this team.

Penny came on the FAN and denied the rumours. Never been so happy to hear a denial like that before ;D
He's also surprised at all the panic thats going on in the city - citing past success of the team as a reason not to worry.

I read this earlier but didn't have time to reply because I had to head out for work. When I read that article I thought, "What the H E L L are the Leafs doing!!" Arvedson is worse than a puke!! Has Management already forgotten what Arvedson did to Domi? First they lose Wesley and now the Rumours of Arvedson. I may be one of the few of us (members) who still like Darcy Tucker. I would rather have Darcy on the Leafs than that puke Arvedson. If the Leafs do sign him, they (management) really do have their heads up where the sun doesn't shine!! I hope this is NOTHING but false Rumours. I am REALLY becoming CONCERNED with new Ownership and with Management. It is beginning to appear LT lied to us when he said he would spend money to bring the Cup back to Toronto. LT, PLEASE prove us wrong!! On another note, I found this part about Wesley very interesting: "Wesley's agent, Rick Curran, made it clear that if the Leafs were going to sign Wesley and have him uproot his family, they would have to offer him a three-year deal. When that didn't materialize, Wesley took the one-year deal that was offered to him over a week ago. "Right from the get-go we were told that if he was going to come here it would have to be for a helluva lot more money and there would have to be a no-trade clause," assistant GM Mike Penny said. "'There wasn't a deal there to do.'" IMO, in Wesley's case, I don't think that was an unreasonable request. If they can keep Belfour at his age and salary, they could have done something for him. I don't blame him for not wanting to uproot his family for just 1 year. I knew there was more to that story than we were being told.

You know. Being able to make the 'Final 8' to enter the Cup-run. Sheesh!! ps...NHL.COM thinks he's fantastic!! Guess we're all stupid!! ;D "Fantastic two-way hockey sense separates Arvedson from the every-day winger. The Ottawa Senators' fourth choice (119th overall) in the 1997 Entry Draft quickly found a spot on the Senators roster, playing 61 games in 1997. He made an impact just as quickly, finishing as a runner-up for the Selke Trophy in 1998, when he finished a remarkable plus-33. Arvedson possesses a scoring touch as well, as he notched four game-winning goals for the Senators in 1999-2000."

Arvedson is a good hockey player, make no mistake. His history against the Leafs though is proof enough to me that I don't want that coward in the Blue and White.

citing past success of the team as a reason not to worry. What success? Being eliminated in Round 1? Not making it out of the Conference Finals ONCE in the last 5 years? Penny is an idiot!! He's probably even a liar. As far as Arvedson goes, he's a jerk (worse than that but don't want to say it) and I DON'T want him on the Leafs any more than I would ever want Alfredsson on the Leafs. Penny and the rest of Management (and LT too) must think all Leafs fans are idiots who will swallow all they tell us hook, line and sinker. I've got news for LT, Penny, Peddie, Quinn. We aren't stupid and we can see through them. I don't think I will ever believe another owner or management team of the Leafs.

Yet we die-hard fans have little say as we don't buy very many tickets to games and he knows he can bullsh*t the mucky-mucks into thinking we're gonna be just fine. Those guys are also the ones who are off in the lounge w/ clients leaving all those (good) seats empty at the start of each period.

OM, since I have been at ACC quite a bit, and in the Platinum near the Leafs Blueline (just a couple of rows from the ice), I know what a lot of them are like in those seats. Truer words were never spoken!

i think he means success in UFA sense of the word
and he does have a point, we did get Nolan and Roberts. I do think they are going to sign Gilmour after they make sure that the knee is going to be A OK
the year before that there was Belfour the year before that there was Mogliny.
see technically, following that trait; we should NOW get a defenseman; but i've decided i'm not going to panic. I will let the Leafs do whatever it is they are not doing and let them dig their own graves. (as it appears to be).
it was pointed out in another thread; maybe the Leafs DO have this plan and it's all worked out, but it's mostly in effect after the lockout (which is what Peddie and Tannenbaum have been saying lately). I mean, to be quite frank; even if they got wesley, de vries, marchment, and have svhela come back,
A: chances are, knowing our luck we would have been smitten with injuries and no cup anyways
B: Detroit has a fluke year and the road to the cup lies through them
C: we need to get through ottawa (as much as we hate to admit, ottawa's all growed up), and new jersey. and the style of hockey that they play, we might be kicked out in the second or third round, providing we made the playoffs.
i'm just as frusterated as you are. but i remember how upset people were when we didn't get holik, or darius kasperitus, or guerin, or whomever; and for everyone BUT guerin (and he got injured badly the last half of the season); everyone sucked.
if we get de vries, and marchment. fine. it sounds like svhela's qualification is going to be dealt with; and we'll go from there. i do not think, that the leafs are stupid enough to go through a WHOLE year knowing that they don't have NHL calibre defensemen. it's just a hunch.
