12 minutes into 3rd period, I felt like the Leafs would lose. I had a little hope when the Leafs scored their 2nd. But I feared the Isle would end up scoring again. They spoiled the game.

You guys have amazing patience .
No one takes bull by the horns on team. We were doing fine until we tied it. Had good puck possession etc. Guess they didn't realize there were almost 5 minutes left.. Islanders take right over. Lose all 3 to Isles this year.
After being 1 - 5 in playoffs last year at home, we are now 11-10 @ home this year.. doesn't sound like championship caliber hockey.
I don't blame Samsonov a bit. He was fine.
Also what a big overpaid stiff Bertuzzi is. Can we get anything for him at trade deadline? How much longer must we wait for him to settle in.

Our big money guys usually show up but the support of the bottom 2 lines isn’t near enough. Domi, Bert, Knies just not good enough. I know it would be foolish to tear up the lineup at the deadline but I would not be sorry if Domi and Bert got moved for different pieces. Brodie, Liljegren could go too. This team goes nowhere as it stands right now. Rather than trade picks/prospects let’s get rid of UFA’s and try and change things up.

Bad defensive play kills you every time. This is far too common a thing. At the end I couldn't believe he didn't have Robertson on the ice. He was prob. the most exciting player on the team tonight.

It would be nice if Trevling had enough guts ( or autonomy) to make those type of moves, Tman. I would like to see Brodie gone, have wanted that since last season, but no more than now. Benoit would be a great replacement for Brodie on a full time basis going forward, his game has been super solid imo. Then plug in a tough stay at home right shot dman, and I like our d. Liljegren gives the puck away far too often, but I still like his game better than the alternative.
Woll will be back in a few weeks hopefully and it seems like Sammy has found his game again.
Up front, I am not sure what can be done with our caphit, but we have to try to improve somehow.
We are not a shoe in for the playoffs, but if we get in, ya never know?

You could get something for Domi, but the Leafs couldn't even get a bag of pucks for Bertuzzi. Who'd want a guy that's contributing absolutely nothing. Bertuzzi took a gamble and lost with the Leafs. He was hoping for a long term contract with another team next year. Now he'll have to settle for league minimum. Toronto would be stupid to trade away prospects or draft picks now. This team isn't even close to challenging for the cup, despite what the idiots said during the 1st intermission.

Bertuzzi was real good for the Bruins last playoff. Might be a GM that would give up a 2nd or 3rd pick or a prospect. Anything is better than letting him walk. Same with Domi,Brodie.

You hit the nail right on the head Gerard. These guys can’t seem to get out of their own way defensively. Bad turnover after bad turnover cost us the game. This has been a problem since the beginning of the year and hasn’t been fixed. That tells me it’s either bad coaching not addressing it or just stupid players that can’t get it through their thick heads what to do. This is a common theme and they better get their s*** together or they are going to be golfing early this year. Bertuzzi is useless. He reminds me of the Energizer bunny that keeps running but doesn’t accomplish anything. I’d peddle him, Domi and Brodie. The other one I think needs to be adfressed is Knies. I know he is young and still learning but he is not producing in the elevated positions they have put him in. Maybe a couple weeks in the AHL would help. Maybe bring Steeves up in his place.

I agree on Knies. Started well but just not truly ready..

I honestly think Knies just ran out of gas. He's never played this many games and certainly none of this level in his life. I definitely agree that sending him down for a few weeks or so would certainly boost his confidence.
As for the others management is afraid to make even a small move so they are no way in hell gonna make a larger one. They will just stand pat and pray for a miracle.
Like the rest of you I am afraid theyre gonna deal off the future to get somebody to play for us for a month or so. This is also been a pattern and of course it has gotten us absolutely nowhere.

I honestly don't feel we are strong enough top to bottom to go all in and be buyers. I could be wrong and hope they prove me wrong. Just nothing I see excites me

I honestly don't feel we are strong enough top to bottom to go all in and be buyers. And speaking of 'strength' we have none. I believe the #1 reason why we get trapped in our own end all night long is because we are pathetically weak players. Most teams that win in the playoffs have big defence who can play a tough game and we have got absolutely nothing. Teams cycle around like it's a free pass because it is. No one's gonna hit them or anything worse. In short, its just part of the culture that we are a team that can be intimidated which is the exact opposite mentality you need for the playoffs.

And another thing that bugs me it's a lack of communication from the players and is just another example of this team lacking brains. A guy jumps out of the box and nobody sees him until he's on a breakaway. You certainly need skill and muscle to win the cup but smarts cannot be underestimated and is just another culture aspect we are missing.

One big positive from last night, it looks like Tavares may be coming out of his slump.
