Yeah I think we need to preserve Auston for the playoffs. Give him a night off here and there. The team has proven they can win when he or any other of the big boys are out. Look at the games we won without Rielly during his suspension or with Marner and Rielly out recently. The playoffs are what is most important now. Keefe has to make sure we are ready to go. We don’t need any needless injuries heading into what is going to be a very difficult playoff road for our boys. It is also going to be interesting where Marner, Rielly and Edmundson slot back into the lineup. The new lines have been pretty good. I also want to say that it is nice to see Bertuzzi and Domi come around. The beginning of the season was bad for both of them but they are doing their jobs now. I was especially down on Bertuzzi but he has won me over. I’ll gladly admit I was wrong about him.

I’ll be surprised if Matthews gets rested much especially if Tampa stays close. I’m sure Keefe will give him that option but I doubt he takes it. Keefe has some good problems ahead of him. Two D and 2 forwards close to returning. Who gets pulled from this lineup? I wouldn’t rush any of these injured guys back into the lineup the way this current lineup is playing. Would Keefe have the cajones to put Mitch on the 3rd line with Holmberg? Might work? The depth on this team is far from spectacular but they work hard, know the system and most have played on different lines/combos with different players. So if injuries happen I like the “next man up” mentality. Let’s see how they fare against the Bolts. Another real good warm up to the big show.

One point and we clinch a playoff spot, I'd roll 4 lines for sure once that happens and give bottom 6 players more time and more confidence. We're deep enough for a good run in the playoffs, just have to be ready to use it and be willing to stick to that game plan. Load up the top 6 because you're desparate, not as a matter of course. Marner has time to rest, Rielly did, but it'd be better if shifts got shorter and nobody played over 20 minutes in any game down the stretch. We seem to be a better team on the road so staying behind Boston and Florida should be a benefit.
