I must say, I am getting tired of the slow setup on every PP. Same play every time, slow exit from dzone to Center ice, drop pass to forward coming out of dzone, speed picks up and forward either carries puck across offensive blue line, or passes it again, while pk lines up on blue line to intercept pass.. If we do manage to get the puck control inside ozone, our passes are too slow.
It’s brutal to watch…speed it up guys!

Nice win, not a perfect game, but a win just the same. AM gets one closer to 70. Woll was decent for the most part. Our d was a bit suspect at times, but overall not bad. Timmons is not playoff ready, he’s gotta be one of the odd men out.
Florida wins, so we are still down by 3, with a game in hand and we play them in game 81.
Go Leafs!

Happy for the W but I thought they were so disorganized tonight. Marner was brutal. I guess I should lighten up. Second game of back to back, outshot them good but it worries me to see some of stupid sh*t they did this close to the playoffs.

Lucky the Devils aren't good. I've been saying for a week now. Sick of the drive for 70. Causing bad habits. And yes I despise the pp when dropping puck all the way back to our end for someone to wind up. Dumb. I'm all for Robertson playing but not if he is going to be on 4th line. Waste of his talents.
Still got the 2 points but not a playoff mode team rt now.

Yes it was obvious they were feeding AM but I felt better with the 4-2 lead. I really think this drive for 70 is fuelled by the media more than the Leafs themselves. Sick of hearing about it on the sports shows. And definitely not in playoff mode. Not sure they know what playoff mode is.

Sort of another meh game for me. Not too much to get excited about but the 2 points is important. I too that Knies was really good and he is working hard. To me Woll looks shaky at times and then spectacular at other times. He needs a little more consistency but I’m sure he is still ramping up from his long layoff.

Maybe give Woll 3 of the last 4 to try n get him going? I haven't been the biggest Bertuzzi supporter but he is playing his best hockey at the right time.
I agree with Timmins not sewing the ice in playoffs. Just not good enough.

Agree about Bertuzzi as well. I wanted him and Domi gone at the trade deadline. Even Reeves is proving valuable. Leafs are #2 in the league in hits right behind Florida. I was surprised to learn this. Most of Tre’s moves have been pretty good. I’m looking forward to the last two games of season but let’s beat the Devils and Wings first. How sweet would it be to snatch home ice from the Panthers? That being said I’m not worried if they don’t. Leafs are a good road team.

Giordano has been good since he came back and we have Edmundson ready to return soon. Timmins would be last on my list. Woll could use the work.

AM’s chance for getting no. 70 looks very promising. Would be nice but he’s had a super season regardless. For what it’s worth, it’s nice to see the Leafs closing out the season in a winning mode. However, their play in their own end is still a concern. Of particular note is the trouble they frequently have with cleanly working the puck out of their end. It’s frustrating how many times they get a clean faceoff win in their end and yet still are unable to work the puck out, too often then getting mired there. Though its role is often underappreciated, the ability to cleanly work the puck out its own end is an important aspect of a team’s game. It’s an obvious big plus for the team’s defense and also can provide a clean start for their offense as they head down ice. Keefe and his coaches need to come up with a better system for working the puck out of their end.

Couldn’t agree more pointshot. Watching them flounder in their zone is so frustrating. Not sure if it was last season or two seasons ago but they were much better then than now. Not sure why Keefe and the core strayed away from that breakout system but they have. It definitely is worrisome especially the way the Panthers aggressively forecheck. Not much time to figure it all out.

Well, we all have our particular opinions re. the playoff line combinations that we would prefer. I’m of the school that the team is best served by getting the best out of its top players, especially when you have a wealth of gifted players like the leafs have. And the way to do this is by letting them play together because the good players will enhance each others game and thus increase their production and contribution. I’m not a fan of spreading out your gifted players among the various lines where they will be playing with lesser players which will then lessen their production. I feel that a team has a better chance of succeeding with two really strong lines than with one strong line and three more watered down lines, especially considering that goals are harder to come by in the playoffs. So, with Domi and Bert having finally found their games and having established good chemistry with AM, the leafs can field two really strong lines by combining JT, Marner and Willie on the second line (by the way, I love that ad with Willie on the subway!). Besides, with Knies, Robbie and a returning CJ I think the Leafs can reasonably expect some contributions from the other two lines. Of course, for teams like Vegas that have numerous good players but lack the wealth of stars like the Leafs, TB, the AVs, etc., I agree with a strategy of spreading the talent around in order to create four more solid lines. Anyway, that’s my take on line preferences. I’d be interested in seeing what ideas you all have for the Leafs’ playoff lines.

Keefe may start the playoffs spreading the wealth over 3 lines but if they fall behind in Game 1 Keefe absolutely will load up two lines and maybe even shorten the bench so I think there will be some tinkering to see what’s gonna work. I wanted Domi and Bertuzzi traded at the deadline so I know nothing about coaching. I trust Keefe and his staff to make the right decisions. I know many want him fired but that’s not going to happen this season. He has to know he will be fired if his team has a bad showing in round one so I don’t think he’s going to be afraid to make decisions some won’t like.
