Who are the top 5 guys (and their % of making it) in our organ. who should/might/better/possibly be up to stay this fall??
Will the hype surounding Carlo be too much for Quinn to not have him up for good?? Is that one of his ulterior motivations for keeping Skeletor?? (Weak as it may be.)
Will Poni/Healey be given a real shot at making the team?? If not what's the sense in keeping them?? I realize they're far from hig-end quality but the truth is that they've never been given steady employment in the bigs and often played very well late in our season.
Is Telly gonna be given a free ticket as a back-up?? His play in the Worlds is hard to ignore.
(Thank you for your co-operation in bringing me up to par!!!) ;D

1: Carlo is being placed on the highest pedestal we can find, after the ones we build for Wendal and Dougie. he's going to toppel big time hopefully he's solid. not great for rookie of the year though that would be great, but just solid and dependable. 2: Healey was told last season to buy a house, he's staying w/the team. Quinn doesn't strike me as a man who would tell someone whos not making a million plus a year to spend money on a house. Poni is probably making the team, unless they sign pluggers. if that happens, trade Poni and Healey or buy them put and let them play somewhere else. trade them to Pittsburg. 3: if Quinn was smart; nu we are forgetting this sentence even as we speak, he'd buyout Kidd/trade Kidd, and have Telly train with Belfour for the year. it would only help him out. As much as he wants the team to be "for now" he needs to think for the future now. and a little FYI on Telly: played in the Olympics; awesome, played in the world championships: amazing. what more do you want?

Here's my GUESS! Healy & Poni will make the line-up! ( Corsen's & Renberg's spots ) Tellquist will out-duel Kidd in the pre-season as the #2 goalie. Carlo SHOULD be given the 6th D-man spot, but won't be! I think he'll be playing in the AHL tho...our D will be the SAME as last year, unless Quinn is gone! Free agents not included, we'll have 2 new players in the line-up, plus Tellquist

i don' know about you guys but I think Healey has worn out his welcome! He seems to play well for a few games and hen disapears. I think Poni should be given a shot as well as Bradd Leeb (if he is under contract) I think maybe Stajan should be given a chance as well as Carlo. Hopefully Pila comes back healthy. Ponis housl be given a fair shot. I hope Telly outplays Kidd. i am not a big fan of Trevor.

I agree with Stugats. Healey should be cut loose. As he said, Paul shows up for a few games and then disappears. We have enough of those kind of Players without adding another one to the mix. I would sure like to see Poni given a chance.
Do you think it would be a good idea to bring Carlo up next season? I'm not sure I agree he is NHL ready. It might be better for him to play with the Baby Leafs next season, but then again, with the CBA coming up, maybe he should be given a shot next season. It's hard to know.

It's not as if Healy disapears, he just is not talented enough 4 the NHL! He was one of the harder workers for the Leafs during the season, and playoffs! Work will only get you that far..without skill, you're doomed. He's got below average speed, is small, can't shoot or pass! His heart is in the right place....

Do you think it would be a good idea to bring Carlo up next season? I'm not sure I agree he is NHL ready. Pam, i'm betting Quinn will be EVER so careful this fall as to whom he puts on the ice and I think he'll be grabbing at every straw possible to make himself look good in light of the thin ice he's on these days. And don't forget the oldest trick/book: Using 'todays' headlines to deflect the heat away from himself and, should Carlo get off to a good camp, i'd bet any money he'll conveniently cave to the pressure and he'll be in. He's Quinn's meal-ticket and it's only a matter of time when it becomes official. IMO.

Healey is no longer considered a prospect and he will have to clear waivers if he is not part of the original eighteen skaters protected in the waiver draft. His limited range means that he is unlikely to displace very many on the current roster but his work ethic makes him an attractive option to some other teams.
Colaiacovo is the primary prospect and this is more from Quinn and media hype than it is for straight talent. That being said, Quinn will promote him to the big club because Quinn needs to demonstrate his faith in his own draft picks and because the Leafs will be desperate for decent blueline help this coming season.
Ponikarovsky should elevated to the big team but with Quinn one never knows.
Tellqvist should be the starting goaltender on this team next year but that won't happen. If he is made the number two man, Quinn is going to have to promise him at least twenty five games and that will affect Eddie's performance. Watch for Quinn to screw this situation up big time. Tellqvist will walk if he is sent back to St. John's next season. He may finish out the remaining year on his contract but he will most certainly go back to Sweden if Quinn doesn't give him a chance.
There are no other legitimate prospects rerady to make the jump after the aforementioned. Harrison needs a year and Stajan will need at least that if not two. Wellwood needs even longer if he even has a shot at all.
OM, expect to see Jonas Hoglund re-signed. The papers may say another thing but the Leafs are prospect poor and I don't see Quinn spending any big bucks this summer. If the Leafs get a new GM (and it isn't Tambellini), he might be forced to make a blockbuster just to make up for Quinn's shortcomings of the last four years. I do not see a rosy future for the boys in blue and white.
