He really loves this game. If I never did anything else positive for him in his life i've given him the love if this game. It is a family thing as my dad was a huge Leaf fan. Every Sat night, as a kid, meant watching Bugs Bunny, then an old western called High Chapperell (sp) and, finally HNIC. We used to sit on opposite ends of the couch. He hated every other team and all of their players which is something i've enherited to varying degrees. Matt won't be the same weirdo as we were but his love goes to a different level as well. He could look at hockey sticks all day. He takes pride in a good tape-job and has, like any true hockey fan, tried a variety of tape-styles. He even used the famous Orr-strip for a coupla years. You can't tell me my son hasn't got the love iof hockey. He knows he'll never get one of the top end sticks, like a Mission, so i'm telling you guys something i've never even told my wife just as i've only thought of it this second. I'm gonna save the $250 nec. to get him a stick of his dreams for next year. It has been his love since he didn't make it this year. He said it's b/c he played 3 good practices and 3 not so good. Being in his last year he wants it real bad. I'll give it to him regardless of what team he plays on but remind him it would be awful nice to have one for his last year in H.S.

OM, I can relate. Most think my oldest son and I are nuts. We have been known to fuss over a tape job for quite awhile prior to leaving for the rink. He has developed his own style of what he likes, and it has to be exact. Ahh, I just love this game.

mine was totally opposite, he had the ref.s ripping tap off his stick so much the coach asked if he needed tape, he said no, dad forgot to tape it!!! everything was dads fault, 2 and a 1/2 yr.s since they won the best h.s. tourney in ont. (bur bear) and he is now back playing with a bunch at noon hours,sr.s and a few old pro.s and last wk. because its reading wk., a couple of his buds who play at western where there so its a pretty high level skate and having a ball. Sticks still need taping, he uses lindros supremes and has 2 left and his skates probably need sharpening but he is enjoying it. I will probably get the message when he leaves one leaning on the car. Oh well, once a hockey player slash dad, always etc.!!!! by the way, sticks don't score just like numbers on sweaters don't, its the kids that do.
