I know this may not be a popular post here, but I am pulling for Sweden to win the World Championships tomorrow. It is no knock on Canada at all as I love the country but I would just like to see Mats win something!! It looks as though his chances are really starting to slip away so I will be pulling for him int he game tomorrow. Now I am not sure how big these games are because here in the states there is not a mention, but a win is a win. also I hear Tellqvist may play and I hope he does well.

What time is the game today? There is nothing wrong with you wishing Mats well and it doesn't matter whether we agree with you or not. Your opinion is just as important. Now that I've said that, I'm not going to agree. ;D It would be nice if Mats could win some championship since it appears he will never win the Stanley Cup as long as he is on the Leafs, but my loyalty is on this side of the Ocean. I hope CANADA WINS the Gold. ;D Go Canada Go!!! ;D

The game is on TSN tomorrow morning at 9:30 AM EST. I hope they show it on Direct TV/Center Ice Package but I doubt it.

As a Canadian based Leaf fan we can celebrate and party either way. Telly and Mats win~celebrate // Canada wins~celebrate. I was reading a report from a Swedish poster on another board and he was saying that Mats said in an interview that this week is the first time in a while where his ankle is starting to feel better, and also the pain in his face is subsiding. Interesting sidebar -- Loungo may have to play for Canada as Burke is injured. Many say Loungo is the best young goalie, how does that rank Tellan if he comes in and stones Canada? I do believe this game will be decided by goaltending, and that makes it hard to get wound up. Do I want Canada to win and have Telly lose some confidence? Maybe a 1-0 Canada win, on a 2 man advantage on the 3rd rebound? European sources say Tellqvist will be named the tourney all star goalie. Good for him.

Again, it's amazing to see HOW da*n good Mats is on big ice, and with a talented team. I saw the game the other day, where he had 2 goals an a assist. Not only was he the best player on the ice, but he was much better then the adored Peter Forsberg.
Too bad Mats career has been wasted with sub-par line-mates!

I heard the game was today (May 10). Guess the source wasn't that good. You guys are lucky you can see the game. Wish I could.
TG, I don't adore Forsberg. He isn't classed as a dirty player but I've seen more of my share of dirty plays out of him. If it was Darcy or one of the other Leafs that did what Forsberg does, they would be called dirty players, but because he's Forsberg they look the other way. I stopped liking Forsberg about 3 or 4 years ago. I agree that Mats is MUCH BETTER than Forsberg.
FW, if Telly is that good, losing the Gold won't make him lose confidence. If anything, it should make him want to prove to everyone, including the Leafs, he is better than what he was in this Championship.
I'm still putting all my support behind Team Canada. GO CANADA GO!! WIN THE GOLD!! (TG, mfm should see this post. ;D)

Well, I'd still take Forsberg over Mats
Mats is more skilled, and that's EASY to see in All-Star games, and on big Ice tournaments.
However, Forseberg is a better leader, and a better ALL-AROUND player
BUT, whenever I see Mats in All-Star games or Tournaments, it amazes me that he REALLY is in the top 5 in the world...SKILL-WISE!

TG, I would still take Mats over Forsberg any day. Yes Forsberg is a good player, but it still irks me that Forsberg gets away with his dirty hits the way he does. Leafs get branded as dirty but yet Forsberg can do something dirtier than any Leafs Player and he is said to be great. Double standard IMO and I hate double standards.

Pam,
He may get away with more, BUT he's a better ALL-AROUND player.
I'll take a player the makes the team better, over a guy I like better. ( Of course, there are a few guys I would NEVER accept as a Leaf ).
Forsberg would be a better player for the Leafs, therefore, I'd take him over Mats!

TG, I think I've mentioned in the past that one of the guys I dated told me that sometimes when he talked to me it was like talking to a brick wall because I wouldn't change my opinion. That guy was the Cop I dated. ;D Face it, you aren't going to get me to change my opinion on Mats and Forsberg. ;D ;D ;D You might as well write this one off.

I have to agree with TG here. I despise Frosberg myself. But in my opinion he is easily when healthy the best player in hockey period!!

You won't get any arguments out of me about Forsberg being good. I used to like him, but then when I found out how dirty he was and that the Refs and League let him get away with it, it made me very mad. I went from liking him to despising him. But I will never say he isn't a good player. I just hate the NHL's double standard when it comes to certain 'Star' players.
