Well, my fiancée just asked me a tough question: "I thought you were a Leafs fan.... how come you cheer louder when Ottawa gets scored on, then you do when the Leaf score a goal"? ========================= I tried to explain my hatred for the Sens to her, but like a "true" women, she ignored me and went shopping ;D ;D ;D ( Oh boy, I'm gonna hear it from the lady's for that one ) ========================= She's right though....I watched most of the game ( I listened to it at least, while trying to get some work done ), and I was happier in period 3, when the Sens were getting killed 5:2....then I was when the Leafs were winning VS the Flyers! I was screaming at EVERY goal! The building is full of Sens fans ( right now at least, I'm sure that will change as soon as the Sens are done ) and people were screaming at me from down-stairs and up-stairs. So....why do I feel better when the Sens are getting killed, then I do when the Leafs are winning?

Well, TG, you can rest easy at least with this woman. I won't get mad at you for that one. Sometimes I do that too, but that real isn't a knock against us. She's right though....I watched most of the game ( I listened to it at least, while trying to get some work done ), and I was happier in period 3, when the Sens were getting killed 5:2....then I was when the Leafs were winning VS the Flyers! The building is full of Sens fans ( right now at least, I'm sure that will change as soon as the Sens are done ) and people were screaming at me from down-stairs and up-stairs. So....why do I feel better when the Sens are getting killer, then I do when the Leafs are winning? TG, do me a favor. I 'met' your fiancee on MSN about a week ago, so she already knows I'm a Leafs fan. ;D I want you to give your fiancee a message for me. Please tell her I was doing the same thing here in Campbell, California. I didn't turn the game on until 7:08 of Period 2 (because I find these 2 teams boring to watch). It was just after Varada made it 2-1 Sens. My reaction was, "come on, Devils, you can't let the Sens beat you!!" Then Pandalfo got the 2nd goal for the Devils and for the rest of the game I was jeering the Sens, especially that goon Alfredsson, and cheering for the Devils!! ;D Let her know there is a woman out here doing the same thing you are doing. ;D ;D ;D

TG I wish i could share your excitement. I just dislike NJ enough that I cannot get excited over them winning either. July 1 is right around the corner right?

I tried to explain my hatred for the Sens to her, but like a "true" women, she ignored me and went shopping ;D ;D ;D ( Oh boy, I'm gonna hear it from the lady's for that one ) nope, I will admit it, I'm a total shopping addict, a total clotheshorse, though my wardrobe consists of baseball shirts, sweats, tees, and sweaters lol, i still love to go shopping. when the going gets tough; the tough go shopping ;D Well, my fiancée just asked me a tough question: "I thought you were a Leafs fan.... how come you cheer louder when Ottawa gets scored on, then you do when the Leaf score a goal"? ...I watched most of the game ( I listened to it at least, while trying to get some work done ), and I was happier in period 3, when the Sens were getting killed 5:2....then I was when the Leafs were winning VS the Flyers! ....So....why do I feel better when the Sens are getting killed, then I do when the Leafs are winning? there's a fine line between love and hate....it means gunner you LOVE the sens.....to lose horridly against whatever team they face, because you hate them that much. with the Leafs, it's expected that they win, so the "cheering" is more like, ya, well, i expected it to happen. with the sens, you don't want it, so when they are scored against, it's like holy hurrah, lets go (team beating Sens!) The building is full of Sens fans ( right now at least, I'm sure that will change as soon as the Sens are done ) YUCK! Fairweather fans! I hate those guys, just pick a team and support them...or a couple. I'm not a huge fan of the Oilers, or Sharks, but they are my teams too, (unless of course it's vs the Leafs; but i didn't have to throw that provisio in, did i ) but no way am I supporting any other team in Canada, whatever because they can bring the cup to Canada! Question: if it was the Leafs; and the Leafs had the chance to bring the cup back home, would the Leafs have all these blowbyblow fans? no; of course not. the only fans they'd have are the ones they've got. icky

Which is fine with me...I want REAL Leafs fans supporting our team. It's bad enought the "suits" have taken over the lower bowls at the ACC, I do not want "support" from ANYONE that doesn't bleed Blue & White!

I can't stand the Devils, but when it comes to the Sens, I will root for any team that plays against the Sens. I really don't want the Devils in the Finals again, but I would prefer the Devils there than the Sens. As for the Finals, I hope the Ducks win the Cup because they have done so well and deserve it, for Stumpy and Adam Oates, and because they are the lesser of the 3 evils. But to be honest, even though I don't like the Ducks, I think they are the most deserving to win the Cup.

I mean awesome for them to accomplish that feat, and it's not like they beat up lesser lights like the Devils (Boston, Tampa, Ottawa), they had to deal with Detroit, Dallas, and Minnisota (who killed off two heavyweights of their own; which is why i called them a heavyweight. anyone who knocks off 2 teams who was picked to win the cup, and come back 3-1 both times, deserves that name; this season anyway). but it's NOT FAIR I mean, what did we leaf fans do to deserve this? in the conference finals, 4 teams that hadn't been in the league before 1990 are there. (Minnisota is 3 fricken years old for crying out loud!), a team that's ELEVEN (same number of cups we have) is IN the finals; and chances are New Jersey is going to be there too. and we sit, and wait and wait and wait. when is it going to be OUR turn?

Yeah I know what you mean. It ISN'T fair. But I would rather have the Ducks win the Cup than to have either the Sens win it or the Devils to win it again. At least it is some (but not a whole lot of) consolation that the Wings, Avs and Devils also folded under in the Playoffs and it wasn't just the Leafs. I think it will be our turn when the Leafs get rid of Quinn in ALL capacities. I think we can pretty much blame Quinn for the mess our team is in. Quinn had 4 years as GM to build a Cup winning team but instead he kept getting dead weight like Lumme, Hoglund, Reichel, Manson, Khristich, etc., etc., etc. A good GM would never have gotten all that dead weight on his team. He would have gone for the players that are capable of winning a Cup. If it took getting rid of a fan favorite player to get a Cup caliber player, then he would have done that (like Lombardi did when he traded away Jeff Friesen in SJ in March 2001). Quinn took a good Leafs team that was turning around under GM Mike Smith and pretty much ruined it, just like I knew he would.

At least it is some (but not a whole lot of) consolation that the Wings, Avs and Devils also folded under in the Playoffs and it wasn't just the Leafs. that is true. i mean it's not like it was JUST the leafs....and it is the lesser of the two evils. I don't know who to cheer for in this regard. I'd love to have stumpy to win the cup, but to have a team that hasn't won the cup before the Leafs (I know that tons more have done it before Anahiem, and chances are more will too), but at I can be mollified at least the Devils won it, a 2 time cup winner....it still sucks cookies. I think that the Leafs should put Quinn on notice. No cup final, his a-- is grass... that would make him get rid of the deadweight very quickly!

I agree it sucks cookies. But another way to look at it is, maybe it will humiliate the Leafs enough if the Ducks win the Cup that they'll find a way to make the Finals next year. I can always hope it will. I am happy for Stumpy though. After 19 years of never making it, he finally has a chance to win the Cup. For that reason alone I could be happy if the Ducks won the Cup. I still like Steve Thomas alot and I would love to see him end his career as a Cup winner. Adam Oates and Stumpy are at the end of their Careers, so I would be happy for Adam too. I think that the Leafs should put Quinn on notice. No cup final, his a-- is grass... Sound good to me!!! ;D ;D ;D

LOL the Leafs should have the Poster of the Ducks, and say "WE ASPIRE TO BE LIKE THEM" (only less boring) and when they do win next year (lofty dream, i know), they can go, thank you Mike Babco*k, J.S. "Giggy" Giguere and of course Stumpy, we aspired to be you, and won. but we'll still fire Quinn ;D ;D ;D

You can add that someone in the Maritimes shares your EXACT feelings so that pretty well covers the entire North American continent don't it?? ;D I don't even watch the games that how much I hate the Sens. To see them even score a goal would be like putting a knife in my back. Losing is the only thing I like for them and nothing will be any more satisfying than seeing them gone. To be honest I don't hate the Devils that much. Mainly b/c I feel they've beaten us over/years fair square. I think we played them hoping we could win and not knowing we could win. I know we might have had them before Domi's elbow but we'll never know. The bottom line was we had them down 3 games to 2 and let it get away. None-the-less I will not rest easy until the Devils move on or, more to the point, when the Sens DO NOT. I do not cheer when they are scored on b/c that isn't possible but I sure as HELL nod my head in approval when I hear they've lost. Gunner, you aren't nuts. You, my well-adjusted friend, are a LEAF FAN.
