With all the talk of players not being offered big contracts, and the likelyhood that players will have to bite the bullet, the fact still remains that sooner/later these guys will get contracts. And these guys will still be delivering big-time plays for somebody next fall. So, I can't help but dream of paying the bucks to get Lindros, Kariya or Hatcher or, dare-I-dream, Fedorov?? They will likely be with new teams w/ price-tags lower than the norm. Add in the fact we've got extra cash thru deleting players long overdue and you can see how we should be in the hunt for quite a few. It won't happen but it sure feels nice to dream a bit. After all, they'll be in new jerseys soon enough and we won't care what their take-home pay is. All that will matter is they might be in blue/white. Isn't that the bottom line??

I agree that for the average fan that is the bottom line but it seems owners are sending a strong message right now that enough is enough. While it would be great to see some of these guys with the Leafs, they can't go throwing handfuls of money at these guys or it will throw off the current trend of overpaying these guys.It will be interesting to see which team breaks first and offers unrealistic deals to some of these UFA'S.I know it won't happen but if all owners could hold off til December or Jan. I think you'd see agents drastically lowering their demands for their clients.
