Fedorov done with Detroit

After 13 years with Detroit, Sergei Fedorov is finished with the Red Wings, his agent told TSN Wednesday.
"Sergei wanted me to make it official that he won't be back with Detroit," Pat Brisson said from Los Angeles. "He said he feels just like he did 13 years ago when he defected from the Soviet Union - that he's free and excited for a new challenge."
Fedorov, who is on vacation in Spain, became an unrestricted free agent when the Red Wings pulled a contract offer of 4 years/$40 million off the table. Fedorov had earlier rejected a 5 year/$50 million dollar offer from Detroit.
The NHL's MVP in 1994, Fedorov has spent all of his 13 NHL seasons with Detroit, winning the Stanley Cup three times. He is fourth on Detroit's all time regular season scoring list, and trails only Steve Yzerman on the Red Wings' playoff scoring list.
Fedorov has had contract squabbles with Detroit before. He missed almost all of the 1997-98 season, joining the Red Wings only after they matched an offer sheet from the Carolina Hurricanes.
Asked if there were any circumstances under which Fedorov would return to Detroit, his agent said there were none.
"No, he's moving on," Brisson said.

But it begs the question, do we want, or do we need him? If we were to bring him on it would mean at a reduced price tag, due mainly to Mats deal.
Need him? in the right frame of mind he is one of the best two way players out there, and of course with that you also have to look at it in the dark side a grumpy Sergei is not a good hockey player.
Dow we want him? not at his asking price.........
