Gee that sucks. I knew Kariya wouldn't be coming here, but it sucks that Colorado got both of them. And just a little prediction.......wanna bet Colorado trades for Cujo?

On the plus, one of my three favorites get their players.
On the negative the Leafs still refuse to commit to winning by ignoring the fact that these players were even out there. Something tells me though the Leafs are up to something, I don't know what it is, but they are to mum on the subject... wait a minute, with Watters gone, no ones around to blabber the details to everyone. I knew something was weird

Cujo is still property of the Wings so they can't just throw money at him. Also if Hasek does come back, it's the wings that are going to have bite the bullet and cover some of his salary, which means the Avs could get him with very little going the other way. Thats about the only weakness the Avs have at this point.

And just a little prediction.......wanna bet Colorado trades for Cujo? If Colorado trades for Cujo, then they aren't serious about making another Cup run. I think the only way Cujo could win the Cup is if he was on a team that could win it without him. Colorado needs a good goalie to go with the rest of the team in order to win the Cup. Cujo isn't a Cup caliber goalie.

I'll bet you a dozen Krispy Kremes that Colorado will end up landing Khabibulin. With an offense like that and the d-men they do have, they really don't need more than brick in goal.

On the negative the Leafs still refuse to commit to winning by ignoring the fact that these players were even out there. Insider, I must have no life, b/c that was the thought floating around inside my head this morning before the cob-webs had cleared away. Quinn, our GM, played the same card he always does: that of taking us out of the picture. The angriest part for me is that he does it w/ a sense of pride. He puffs up his chest and announces that we're standing pat on spending 'big' money and (of course) our entire team waits for the Svehla-watch. 1.2 M for one year?? Make that a . seriously, i feel like crying that's Mats Winger RIGHT THERE 1 year, 1.2 million dollars, drop Renberg right off the top line holy crap. the saddest thing about this is, quinn stated yesterday that ALL UFA's wanted big money and long years. look at Kariya. (sob) But, I'm still going to take Mats Sundin's too well used golf clubs and shove them up Pat Quinn's arse for letting these 2 guys go by at that price. 'at that price' THAT is the part that has angered most Leaf fans i'm willing to bet. Quinn assumed that they would be asking for high-end money so he never even inquired. Now, no one can prove that but we all freakin' know it's true b/c, if he had looked into it, as you say we could have easily had an A-1 winger for Mats. It's one thing to not have guys sign when you're interested. Quite another when you never even show that same interest. I'm tired of this picture already.

OM, that was my first thought too. But then I had a second thought. I thought it might be a repeat of last year where he talked to players and they didn't want to go to Toronto. I don't think Selanne was interested in going to Toronto. I think he wanted to stay here. Granted it gets cold and snowy in Colorado, but not as much as in Toronto. It's closer to his home in Southern California. He won't have to uproot his family as much. I have a good idea that Paul and Teemu talked and that's how Colorado got both of them the same day. Maybe it was even a 3 way talk between the Avs, Paul and Teemu. I don't think the Leafs had any hope of getting Teemu. If Quinn did approach Teemu, he could have just decided to keep about it after the way we all reacted last year (angry and speaking out) when he couldn't get players. After all, he doesn't have Watters to blame it on this year. All the blame for not getting a player would fall at his feet this time.

Actually, after a day of thought, it appears Quinn never stood a chance in this deal. This deal was orchestrated by Kariya and Selanne, not the Avs. Although I'm sure Lacroix put on his share of charm, I'm starting to get the impression that there was absolutely nothing Q could have done to bring these 2 guys here. They were shopping for a team to win a Cup with, together. I'm sorry, but if I looked at Colorado's line-up and then Toronto's, I'd pick Colorado hands down, even without a goalie.

Exactly my thoughts, Shaner!! I never thought it was the Avs who pulled it off. It would have to be Paul and Teemu talking to a team together for that kind of thing to happen.

Guess my frustration goes beyond the 'who started what' idea. This is typical of our mgmt. They cannot make up their minds which direction they're headed. Getting Nolan/Gilmour/Wesley once second and then saying we're giving the youth a chance and only getting people in TO if thye'll play for peanuts and if they wanted them there despite the various guys who have wanted to be in blue/white. Guess i've gotta get thicker skin and write less since my posts all run the same way.

Guess i've gotta get thicker skin and write less since my posts all run the same way. Why? You've had 36 years of frustration. There comes a day and time where that frustration has to raise its head and speak out. You have 36 years of thick skin. Why would you want it any thicker than that. There is just so much frustration we can take as fans. I don't have 36 years of frustration like a bunch of you do. I've only had a few years of frustration and even I complain about it. I can only imagine how you feel. Rant away my friend. Being the distance you and I (and MB) are from the Leafs makes it even harder on us because we can't see the day to day things like most of our members can. It must help to see the daily life of the Leafs. Maybe if you and I could see the daily life of the Leafs up close and person like most of our member, we could handle it better.
