I caught an interview with Tannenbaum yesterday and it was encouraging. He said something like, "... I know it's frustrating for Leaf fans, but I want this team to win the Stanley Cup more then anyone... and good times aren't that far off..." They also said that for those who knew him, this is not an idle comment. The pressure is on team management. He is considered a square shooter, and a man of commitment. If he says it, he does it. It was refreshing, he talked of the Leaf fans deserving a cup, the support is RECOGNIZED. I don't think it's a coincidence that he does this interview, and then they announce all these gm interviews. He is starting to put the pressure on. He WANTS to win like the fans, as long as he doesn't become a Ballard an owner who WANTS to win has to be a definite benefit over our last decade or so post Ballard.

This is good news. Hopefully he is a man of his word. Unfortunately mos of the people in positions like his are not.
I still say ink Federov and Wesley and get the ball rolling!!!

I hope you're right, guys. I know little of him but, from what I have heard he doesn't seem to be the kind of guy that would be a yes-man for Quinn. That in itself is good news. ;D

Thanks for the post, FW. Being so far away I never get to hear Interviews or Press Conferences. I only know about Tannenbaum what you guys have said, so any Interview with him I am interested in knowing what's on his mind. Hopefully he will get a new GM for the Leafs. It's more important to me for the Leafs to have a serious run at the Cup this last season before the CBA than whether or not the GM is new to the Leafs. Having a good GM this last season before the CBA is more important to me than it being same old, same old on the GM front. Maybe if the Leafs get a new GM in place by the season, he will get the players for the Leafs that Quinn keeps failing to get. Namely the GOOD DEFENSEMAN the Leafs have needed for years (notice I said good, not expensive). I really believe the only thing holding the Leafs back from a serious Cup run is the lack of good defensemen.
