Just curious: Who is responsible for setting the clock on Proboards? And what OS is the server running on that doesn't automatically adjust for daylight savings?

That's a long story, Barilko. I don't know what OS the Servers are running on but I can shed a little lite on the clock. It used to be set up so that the Server Clocks changed when Daylight Savings began and ended. Then that changed so that we had to adjust it ourselves. Then they went back to changing again. Now they are back to not changing. I need to know if all the members see the Server Clock at Central Time instead of Eastern Time before I set the Forum's Time. If they don't and I set the time, it could mess up the Forum's time for everyone.
I need everyone to look at the Forum's Time at the Top and then look at their clocks at home and then let me know if they see the Forum's time at Central Time or Eastern Time. Once I know what time the Members are seeing on the Forum, I can fix it to always display Eastern Time. The last time I had to change it, they put the Servers back on automatic change. It made a mess of the Forum's time and I don't want that to happen again.

Actually Pam, what I see changes after I log on to Proboards.
For example, currently the time is 4:46 PM PDT. If I was not logged in right now, the forum time at the top of the screen would be 6:36 PM. Since I'm currently logged in, it displays the time as 3:36 PM -- in other words, it makes the 3-hour adjustment for the time offset I set up in my profile.
Hope that clarifies things.

I can do a Forum adjustment to the time as well. I can make it for any time zone I want to make it. Since most of us are in the Eastern Time Zone, I like to keep the Forum on that Time Zone. For me, right now it is 5:57pm but the forum says Central Time of 7:48pm. I just want to know if everyone in the Eastern Time Zone sees the Forum Clock at the top as 1 hour behind or if they have set their profiles to show their time zone. Keeping the Forum on the Eastern Time Zone helps everyone know what time other members posted. Hopefully we will get some other replies by tomorrow.

I added the hour in my profile after DST took effect so, when I am logged in, the forum shows my correct local time ... Eastern daylight savings time (minus the few minutes that proboard always seems to be behind). Before I log in, the forum shows EST ... an hour behind my current local time.
I have no problem with this set-up ... especially if it's going to cause you a lot of trouble to try and change things.

I see dead people. Kidding, a groaner I know but I couldn't resist. Actually I see Pam, and Tom, and Rusty, and Barilko, and I see you too, hope to see you again in the Romper Room school...I watch animation all day with the kids. The time at the top for me says 7:48am....but it is 9:48am here in Nova Scotia. So I don't know what time it is...anywhere.

Well it can't be done quite the way it was before. I had the Forum set up so that everyone could see the Forum in Eastern Time year round because the Servers used to adjust with the change from Standard Time to Daylight Savings and back to Standard, but it has been a long time since I had to do that and I just found I don't have that option anymore.
If you would like to see the Forum consistent to when we were on Standard Time vs Daylight Savings (Daylight Savings Time is what put the Forum time out of wack), you will need to go into your profile and adjust the time. Keeping the Forum consistently on Eastern Time year round lets us know when a member actually made a post:
Profile:
* Go to Preferences near bottom * Go to Time Offset * In the Time Offset Box you will probably see a 0. Change that 0 to +1 * Click on Change Profile
Be sure to put the plus (+) sign in front of the 1 or it won't work. If members are seeing the forum at 1 hour behind Eastern Time (which would be Central Time), making these changes will put the Forum back to Eastern Time for you. This will make the Forum consistent to the automatic Eastern Time when we aren't on Daylight Savings Time. For our Maritimers, this will put the Forum back to 1 hour behind your time just like when we were on Standard Time.

Romper Room...wow, they still air that show? ;D
Sorry for hurting everyone's head with this. I just found it strange that the forum server wouldn't automatically make the adjustment. But it does make me that much more curious to know what type of server OS we're dealing with. Just my "inner geek" at work. ;D
