Give it ten years TNG and point number twelve will be reversed. I don't know CL... This is the woman who shelled out $160.00 to take me to the Leafs/Habs opener in 00-01. That's a lot of dough for a non-hockey fan/student to shell out (I couldn't afford it and I am a hockey fan).

That's because she hasn't got her ring yet.

Of course, you don't have your ring yet as well TNG. Yours is the one that goes through your nose.

I am new here so this should let you know a little about myself. 1. Your favorite current Leaf: Roberts, anybody who can come back after major surgery and still make an impact on a team is okay in my books. 2. You favorite all time Leaf: Johnny Bower Too young to remember his hey day, but from what Dad has told me he was great player. 3. Your favorite all time player: Terry Sawchuk Much the same as Johnny. 4. Your 2nd favorite Team: ( assuming Leafs are #1 ) Montreal 5. Best all time player..your opinion: Gordie Howe Hey the guy played in like 7 decades LOL. 6. The one player you'd like to be on next years Leaf Roster: Joe Sakic, love this guy. 7. Last person you'd want on next years Leaf Roster: Errikson 8. Remove 1 player from the Current Leaf Roster: See Question #7 9. Where do you live: Cold Lake Alberta 10.How old are you: 40 11.Occupation: Air Force (Presently work on CF-18 ejection seat) 12.Family: Married, 2 kids, 15 going on 35, 13 going on 28, 2 cats, and 1 dog (Dog's name, well Cujo of course) 13.NHL players etc you've met: Lanny Macdonald, Eddie Shack (Who hasn't met him?) Paul Henderson (should be in the Hall of Fame ) 14.Name something that may surprise people about you: Contrary to popular belief I am very laid back, oh and I have two speeding tickets, one was for doing 150 in a 50 zone . Rusty I found my post I was looking for that told how I became a Leafs fan. If you didn't see it in reply to my modified answer in the Possible problem string you can see it now. #1, yeah I agree with you. It's hard sometimes to have a favorite when I like so many players. I do like Gary very much. He's awesome, but Alyn is still my favorite leaf and Felix is my all time favorite. #2, I have only see Johnny Bower in games they show on ESPN Classic Channel. Every so often the Saturday Classic game they show is a Leafs Game. Johnny was awesome!! He was something like 42 the last time the Leafs won a cup with him in net. I can't imagine any goalie today doing that. #4, LOL!! I like the Habs too. When the Leafs were in the Western Conference there was no reason for me to dislike the Habs. I didn't grow up on hockey and the Habs were not Rivals IMO. I couldn't stop liking them when the Leafs were moved back to the Eastern Conference. If they play the Leafs the Habs are rivals for sure, but I can't hate them or even dislike them. #11, One of our members, Scout, is also in the Canadian Airforce. Right now he is relocating to his new post so he is offline for a while. MapleBud who is also a member is in the Canadian Navy and is in the Middle East Seas right now. Every so often he will pop in here from there, but it will be at least November before he gets home. #13, Me. I've never met Eddie Shack. I almost got to talk to Lanny MacDonald. I went to the 2000 All Star game in Toronto with a company called Roadtrips. On Saturday they had special autograph/photo sessions set up in the morning at the HHOF and in the afternoon at Westin Harbour Castle. By the time I got in the morning session, they had Lanny in the Photo Session so I didn't get to talk to him. I haven't met Paul Henderson either, and all I have heard about him, I agree, he should be in the Hall of Fame. Thanks for posting this. I think TomGunner had a great idea starting this string. Too bad more members haven't posted to it.

Great someone from the Navy? My brother is sorta kinda in the Navy, he is a Metoroligist, my other Brother is in the Army, so I guess you can say our family has all branches of the forces covered, LOL ;D I met Lanny when my sons Bantam team (I am the assitant coach) was in Calgary for a big year end Tourny, I couldn't beleive my eyes, as I was coming out of the dressing room looking at the game sheet I look up and all I see is Mustache! The next day our teams met in a game, it was really wierd looking on the other bench and seeing a HHOF member as part of their coaching staff. They ended up beating us in triple overtime, 2-1. I like this thread, it is a good way to get to know each other, I still find it strange seeing someone from San Jose who is a Leaf fan LOL, actually we went to Disneyland in February and while we were touring Hollywood we went to Graumans Chinese Theatre (Sp?) this guy came up and asked me what time it was, well he was wearing a Leaf Jersey!:tg: Ciao for now Rusty

Great someone from the Navy? LOL!! Well you will like MapleBud he's a good guy. My brother is sorta kinda in the Navy, he is a Metoroligist, my other Brother is in the Army, so I guess you can say our family has all branches of the forces covered, LOL ;D It sure sounds that way!! I met Lanny when my sons Bantam team (I am the assitant coach) was in Calgary for a big year end Tourny, I couldn't beleive my eyes, as I was coming out of the dressing room looking at the game sheet I look up and all I see is Mustache! The next day our teams met in a game, it was really wierd looking on the other bench and seeing a HHOF member as part of their coaching staff. They ended up beating us in triple overtime, 2-1. Wow Cool!! That must have been a really great experience. I envy (not in a bad way) you guys with your great stories. I wish I could have grown up around hockey and been able to experienc some of the things you guys have. I like this thread, it is a good way to get to know each other, I still find it strange seeing someone from San Jose who is a Leaf fan LOL, actually we went to Disneyland in February and while we were touring Hollywood we went to Graumans Chinese Theatre (Sp?) this guy came up and asked me what time it was, well he was wearing a Leaf Jersey!:tg: Ciao for now Rusty Yes, it is a good string. I myself don't find it strange to be a Leafs fan, but I guess I can understand how someone in Canada couldn't understand it. All the transplanted Canadians we have out here are at enough Sharks games, or Kings games in S. Cal., to understand it, but I guess it might be difficult to understand it if you don't live here. I am 343 miles north of Los Angeles and even further than that from Disneyland. I can drive to LA in 6 hours but it is is between 45 and 60 minutes further south to Anaheim/Disneyland. We have a lot of relocated Canadians out west. In Los Angeles and in the San Jose area we have tons of them. They are Canadians who are relocated from all the areas in Canada that have a team, but the Sens have the least fans in the San Jose area. I wear my Leafs Sweater to the Sharks games alot and when I run into a Canadian at the games who lives here they think I'm from Toronto. Most of the Leafs fans I meet here are from the Toronto area. It's pretty cool to talk to them. But believe it or not, I'm not the only native Californian who is a Leafs fan first and then likes the Sharks (or in S. Cal the Kings) but only if they don't play the Leafs.

I do think it is cool to have fans of the Leafs all over the place, it is just kinda strange knowing there are Leaf fans in Calif. I always assumed they were Kings fans.
Growing up in TO in the 60-70's everything revolved around the Leafs, I am sure not much has changed since. What with the Internet and all it is very easy now days to keep up with them.
When I was in the Army in the 80's I was posted to Germany and it was next to impossible to get any info on them. Sure we had "The Stars and Stirpes" daily Newspaper, but if it did not have anything to do with a ball they had atrocious coverage.
I forgot to say I lived down the street from Paul Henderson, also if I am correct Lou Nanne also lived in the same street.
I had this old Transistor radio and during the winter I would put it under my pillow and fall asleep listening to Leaf broadcast's, if memory serves me correct the play by play guy was Bob Cole.
Ciao for now
