Well folks I just got back from the vets. I had to put my buddy,my friend, my precious burnsy to sleep this morning.. It was no doubt one of the hardest things I have done. I was given Burnsy when he was just a few weeks old back in 93 during the Leafs playoff run. Pat Burns was our leader so I called the cat Burnsy. He was an indoor cat that has been with me ever since. In fact when I got divorced the only thing I asked for was Burnsy.. But old age had caught up to him and he had taken sick. for the last week he was just wasting away and not eating. He developed an infection on his paw as well. As I sat in bed (also have the flu) watching that awesome leafs comeback and i couldn't enjoy it. My little guy lie in bed next to me barely living. It was awful. He cried as I placed him in his carrier and sobbed all the way to the vets. I have been balling myself all morning. Very painful but life goes on..
RIP my little friend

Jim, I am so sorry to hear about Burnsey. I think you mentioned a while back he wasn't feeling well. I know just how much this hurts you. It hurts so much when our pets die because they are family. Take care. Feel better soon, and I hope your heart feels better soon.

He was my family. Gave me love, and loyalty for many years. tough to replace.

Having just went through it I know exactly what you are feeling, I feel for you Stu.
Life does go on, but it seemed to be empty for a while.
BTW after a few weeks of going it alone we decided that there was too much of a hole and emptiness in our home so we went and got another dog to ease the pain of losing Cujo, he is good therapy I tell you.

Empty for sure. It has been a rough day.. It was such an emotional morning putting him in the carrier which he didn't want to go in and getting him there.. He always hated cars... I am glad too hear that you have a new pet in your life Earnhardt... I will see how that goes here....

The guys do it from time to time. Do you have them on a server somewhere? If you look at all the icons above the smilies, in the wnd row, 4th from the left, is an icon that looks like a picture. You use that icon for the pics and insert the link between the icons.

It is still such an empty feeling. Obviously it has only been three days so far. Everything reminds me of him...I keep thinking I am hearing him etc... Very sad times.. Time heals all.. But it doesn't help right now..

Well folks it didn't take long but we got a new cat today... It in no way will replace my burnsy.. but my cat would keep my mom company and she was really missing the company. So I decided to get a new one. I went to the shelter earlier and got a 1.5 year old short haired cat. It is a female and its name right now is Tanya.. I want to call it Vesa... or Mats... or jiri.. or something leafs related.. so far the family is shooting them all down cause they are names of guys... I was also thinking Clancy after King Clancy.. I will try to post pictures when I take some. She is pretty skiddish right now..

Any way you can say "I got the kitty so I get to name it what I want to." ;D I'm happy you could find a new kitty. She won't replace Burnsey ever, but she will fill the void left by Burnsey. I got my kitty who died through the Santa Clara County SPCA and I got my new Kitty through an organization in Coronado called PAWS. Its an agency who finds abandoned pets and keeps them in foster care until they are adopted by someone. Both my kitties were skittish when I got them. Princess never entirely got over it because she was always afraid of strangers and going outside. Gretel (her name when I got her) is the same way. I love Gretel but she will never replace Princess in my heart because Princess was the most special cat I ever had. Gretel fills the void left by Princess.

We named the cat "Juno" after the character in the movie...She is still very skiddish, but has really taken to my mom. which is great. She is spending time with her while I work.. My mom is thrilled with the company.. boy I love pets...
i hope you and the family are enjoying your new puppy Rusty
