My DSL was down until 8:24pm eastern today so I didn't know it was your Birthday. I hope you had a good one. Thank you Pam for remembering. It was a pretty good day. I like when birthdays are on the weekend....you get a day off from work. Watched a lot of the Leafs-Pens game before the Sabres game started. Glad the Leafs won! Saw Don Cherry's tribute to Doug Gilmour. That was cool how they stopped the game halfway to show the video of Cherry and Gilmour. You do know that Doug played for the Sabres one year, in 2000-01. He actually was acquired in the spring of the 1999-2000 season from the Blackhawks. Gilmour didn't like the direction that the Sabres were taking, especially the way Darcy Regier treated Michael Pecca when he was holding out. He blasted the Sabres management when he left for Montreal.

Gilmour and Dumont to the Sabres for Michal Rozival for Michal Grosek what a deal that turned out to be! That was good. However, the Sabres mistreated both of them and Gilmour left on bitter terms and the Sabres didn't sign Dumont, who is now with the Preds....and doing quite well.

Yeah it's always nice to have your birthday on a weekend. It's a bummer having to work on your BDay. Yeah I remember Dougie being on the Sabres. I wasn't happy about it either. He belonged with us.

I was thrilled when the Sabres got Doug. Once again, Dary Regier mismanaged a couple situations (like the Peca holdout) and Gilmour didn't like how it was handled. He wanted the team to be a winner and Regier was more interested in the bottom line. BTW- I finally got LeafEd over on the Penalty Box. He's there every day now. Stop on over and welcome him back. ;D

It's been a wild week here in Buffalo. First we get a huge wind storm yesterday and then that plane crash just 10 miles away from me. It seems that Buffalo has gotten in the news for some horrific events the past year or so.
There was that Kevin Everett, that Buffalo Bills football player who got paralized last year on opening day. Then Richard Zednik suffered that severe neck injury and could have died. Now this tragic accident.
I got a call tonightn from my son right when the Sabres and fans were having a moment of silence for those that died in that crash tonight. The crash made the front page headlines in London, where he is right now.
