I went to Toronto on Thursday, June 19th. It was a gorgeous day, sunny and perfect temps. We went to CBC headquarters where they were showing the World Cup on many big screens and the public was invited to watch. Saw England lose their game and then we headed to our car in the parking lot a few blocks down. Should have walked the streets for an hour before attempting to head to our next stop, 'cause we were going right at the rush hour. Huge mistake! It's a lot different in Toronto than in the U.S. Pedestrians have the right of way, and they use it no matter what color the traffic light is. They'll walk right into cars and walk against the light. If you're driving, you just have to wait tens of minutes until you get your chance to move a few inches. Such is life in the big city! With that said, once you reach your destination, Toronto is a very entertaining city. But make sure you find out where construction is or you'll be stuck in traffic for hours...like I was. Even coming home from a concert Thursday night, leaving at 11:30 pm, we were still stuck in a huge traffic jam on the Gardiner expressway due to construction. It took us an hour and a half extra to get home because of all the construction delays. Outside of that, Toronto is a beautiful city in the summer. Here's some pictures I took of the Toronto skyline and the sights along the waterfront...

very nice Razz. Glad you had a good time The weather conditions were perfect. Took my son to see a concert at the Sound Academy. It was a great concert. The place is across the bay from downtown Toronto. Spectacular view, especially at night with the city lights on.

I've been to Toronto several times in the Summer. I agree with you. It is beautiful. I'm glad you had a good time and I do know what you mean about construction. One time I was going east and I had to start out on Gardiner to get there. The road construction made it fun.

Never experienced any construction or traffic jam problems. I think I went to 3 Blue Jays games and it just took 2 hours to get home. Yea, it's construction season here in Buffalo too...and that includes the Sabres! LOL Major construction job there. Glad to hear from you. Hope you are enjoying your summer!

I was only in Toronto twice in the summer and only once for construction. The first time I was there I took in a Jays game. The 2nd time was when I hit the Construction going east to Kingston. So far the summer here has sucked.

So far the summer here has sucked. I see you moved me (this thread). LOL We've had a pretty nice summer so far. Still planting a lot of the seedlings I started into the garden and pots. Lots of tomatoes, beans, and broccoli. Sabres #1 pick was Sam Reinhart, the #2 overall. We'll see how he'll develop. I still don't think that the return for Thomas Vanek, Jason Pominville, Matt Moulson, Steve Ott, Ryan Miller and other veterans the Sabres traded was worth it. The Sabres have 3 second round picks, but I would have kept at least half those veterans lost. It will take some time for for the kids the Sabres draft to get to the level of the players they lost...that is if they even make it.

Yeah into the non hockey topic. Sounds like you have a nice garden going. Join us in the Leafs board Draft thread. Mention there what you said here.

I do think that the Sabres new GM Tim Murray will be better than Darcy Regier, but he's got a long ways to go after the dismantling job that Regier did. Murray decided that he'd so in the direction that Regier started and traded more players. Draft picks are risky as only a handful really make it. The others are a crap shoot. Most of Regier's picks were never signed, but went back into the draft 2 years later. He did hit on a few, but I'd give him a D- grade for his 15 years with the Sabres.
