I have always been a leafs fan first and a Toronto sports fan second. Currently on my 49th trip around the sun. Celebrated the Jays wining the world series in the 90's. Saw the doug Flutie Argos take home a grey cup. Watched FC win the MLS cup a few years ago. Now, 25 years in it looks like 2019 will be the raptors year. Now Up 3-1 over the Warriors. Kyle Lowry, Spicey-p Siakum and Kawhai Leanard are Toronto's Sweethearts and will become legends if they finish this off.
Maybe year 50 will be the year to o\put the final cherry on top.

to any Raptors fans hee all the best. I haven't watched a basketball game in probably 25-30 years. Just never liked the sport. Don't have a favorite team and can care less who wins it year in and year out. The older I get the only sports I seem to enjoy now are hockey and soccer

Well last night was their first shot at a title and they couldn't drain a jump shot to save their lives. Still they battled hard around the basket to stay in the game right up until the end. 106-105. It all came down to a Kyle Lowry jump shot right at the final buzzer. Every players position they dream to be in as a kid. If it drops the Raptors win their first ever NBA title..... It didn't. Just like very other jump shot last night. Rimmed out. Raptors lose. On to game 6.......

I went to my first basketball game ever during that inaugural season. The Raptors in the Skydome was not a good fit and I didn't enjoy it. I tried to watch them on television, but the NBA seemed to set up the Raptors and Grizzlies for failure rather than long term success as expansion franchises and the on-court product was not very good. Star players and first round draft picks started playing out their first contracts and then leaving. (Stoudamire, McGrady, Carter, Bosh) I did watch more games with Vince Carter on the team and then Chris Bosh, but it was the last few seasons with Kyle Lowry and DeRozan that I started paying attention more and more. This season with Kawhi Leonard, the addition of Marc Gasol, Jeremy Lin, Danny Green, the emergence of Fred VanFleet and Pascal Siakiam has made this team entertaining, competitive and potentially champions.
Not at all what the NBA had in mind 25 years ago when they started their season with two expansion teams from Canada.
Last night in the dying seconds the script was written for Kyle Lowry .... but not this time.

I don't like GS, so that's why I prefer the Raptors winning.

What a playoff series and what a game. Masai saying championship teams are not built overnight (or something like that), he's been tinkering with the lineup since he got to Toronto and finally got it right. Way to go Raptors!!!

Basketball is so different from hockey. One guy (Kawhi) can change things so much (that and LeBron leaving Cleveland).
Nurse was by far the better coach. GS has so much talent, their GM does a great job, but I don't think much of Kerr as a coach; they won in 2015 when most teams they faced had significant injuries, notably Cleveland, lost in 2016 when up 3-1 going home, and were going to lose to Houston last year before Paul got hurt. This year they had injuries and he couldn't figure out that Green was hurting his team. Good on the raptors.

Victory parade ... I hear a lot of the Raptors players quoting "the process" it sounds like Masai and Kyle have been talking in the MLSE hallways and have adopted the same "process" lingo.
