I won't go so far as say I am hardcore. But I've seen all 9 of the movies multiple times (except the 9th one I only watched once so far) as well as the stand alone movies multiple times. My cousin reads books and has a wealth of knowledge about Star Wars that I can't compete with.
I don't really want to get into the issues I had on a hockey thread out of respect for those planning to see it but have not yet.
(Side note, I was a member of the official Leafs message board when Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince was released and in the middle of a thread not about Harry Potter someone's post said: Snape Killed Dumbledore. It literally had just come out and I was not impressed!
I'm an occasional teacher meaning I work when another teacher is absent from the classroom. Last day before Christmas break doesn't typically have a lot of absences so I dragged my dad to see the movie (he hasn't seen any) in the afternoon. Avoided the crowds!
I would like to continue this conversation in the non hockey area if you are game.

It didn't copy and paste as nicely as I thought it would!
I'm on the fence about the movie and probably need another viewing. My cousin didn't like a number of things, so his opinion initially influenced my thoughts. Sith are not supposed to think about creating life or anything like that so he really had an issue with when Palpatine had time to go and make offspring. It seems very out of character (kind of what I thought when Voldemort had off spring in The Cursed Child).
The Force also can't bring people back from the dead, like Ben did for Rae. He also didn't like how the emperor was still alive, which I don't really like or understand.
Further, using the force isn't supposed to make you weak like it did when Ben died.
He also didn't like or agree with the force passing of the light sabre. Didn't seem like a thing the force is capable of.
They really made sure those 'surprise' things weren't surprises in the movie. The whole point of the injured snake was to show that Rae was able to use the force to heal and then the necklace snatching by Kylo to show they could use the Force to pass things along.
As I've talked to less hardcore fans I've kind of realized my cousin wasn't going to like the movie no matter what. He disliked the first 2. And I didn't even hate the second one that Pam seemed to not like haha.
