I knew someone would be stupid enough to sign Kovie and secretly I knew Montreal was entirely that stupid, but didn't think it would actually happen.
The Montreal Canadiens signed veteran forward Ilya Kovalchuk to a one-year, two-way deal on Friday.
The deal will carry a $700,000 salary at the NHL level and $70,000 salary in the AHL for Kovalchuk, whose contract with the Los Angeles Kings was terminated last month

Well the price and term is not risky but I can't see him being much of a difference maker.

If they were dumb enough to sign him, they will deserve it if it comes back to bite them in the @ss.
