I think watching the leafs, except for the no fans, it's been a pretty easy year hockey/covid wise in the Canadian division. All of a sudden reality has set in. All Montreal games postponed until Mar 28 due to covid protocols starting with last Mondays game vs Edmonton. Goes to show how fragile the NHL season still is.

Early yesterday I was thinking of this very thing. How our division had escaped it while the U.S. divisions were still experiencing it. Then I saw the article on TSN shortly later about Montreal. I'm sorry it happened, but at the same time our division has been very lucky for it happening so late into the season. Lets hope no more of our division face this.

Contact tracing and how it should work, so not exactly the players being out of line.
Edit: I just read that one of the MTL players was a positive test (from Thursday)

I had my son when I was 20 years old. He was born at 12:25AM. When I woke at 7am my pediatrician walked in. He told me my 8lb 8oz son had developed a breathing problem and was in an incubator. I had a difficult pregnancy. Panic set in. He got well enough to go home in 3 days, but for the next 8 months he had breathing difficulties. When he was 2 months old I was changing his diaper in the afternoon and he stopped breathing. I couldn't get him breathing and was so terrified I couldn't even scream for help. I finally got him breathing. It is terrifying to have our babies or children like that. My heart goes out to Hamonic. Shame on hockey fans giving him a bad time!

The more I read about the Canucks situation, the more I am starting to realize how much thin ice this season is still sitting on. 17 of 24 players have now tested positive, but more importantently most are actually exhibiting symptoms. This isn't just protocols. One players is infected for the second time. As these new variants spread, it won't take much to take down an entire division, and maybe with it, the season.

Didn't the Canucks get one of the variants? If, so, that could be why they are sicker than from the original virus. From what I've heard here, these variants are more contagious and hit younger people harder than the original virus. I can't speak for the whole U.S., but in Oregon we now have 2 different variants, the UK variant and the African varient. I know California, Colorado, and N. Carolina also have the varients.

I don't think they have confirmed it yet, but variants are confirmed as the dominant source of spread in Canada now. Our emergency rooms are at their highest capacity since this began, and our governments are doing a piss poor job of getting people vaccinated. Canadians are watching the world return to normal as we are asked to lockdown for a third time. Toronto has been in lockdown longer than any other city in the world. I'm not sure people are going to suck it up a third time because they know our government is to blame. We are in some trouble up here Covid wise.

But my reason for sharing it was to let bwf know I could truly understand his feelings.
