Glad the Oilers beat the Flames. I haven't liked the Flames from the first time I saw them in San Jose in 1996. One of the games I didn't root for anyone

The last time I cheered for the Flames, Lanny McDonald was on the team. Though I did briefly root for them when Matt Stajan played there.
Not really a fan of the Oilers either, but it was nice to see Zach Hyman have some success. Watching McDavid, .... wow!

Have to say, I am glad I am not a flames fan this morning. Brutal! Absolutely Brutal. Officiating is deciding playoff series' and killing the nhl. Coleman scored last night. It is glaring obvious that some people in the NHL are getting paid to decide the outcome of hockey games. Not lost on me is that the uptick seems to coincide with legalized betting.

I called it kicked it. There's no way his left skate is coming that far over without the intention of kicking the puck in the net. (no player stops that way, or gets his balance that way) The fact that it would have gone in anyway is irrelevant since the last touch was the kick. I would have been more ticked if that goal was allowed. The puck didn't bounce off of him, or was redirected by him, it was kicked/pushed by him. It's about time a "distinct kicking motion" was defined.

There is zero kicking motion there. Maybe, and this is a huge maybe, he moved his foot to redirect the puck. That is still a goal. I’m sorry but gambling has caused some serious problems inside the NHL. Calgary should be playing tomorrow.

Zero kicking motion on a tap in soccer goal, but it was still kicked in. Zero kicking motion placing your foot on a door and pushing it shut, but you still kicked it shut.
If move your foot to push a puck, it's still a kick. If the puck had bounced out and hit him and not Coleman initiating the contact then that would have been different.

At first I was in disbelief that it was called back but watching it at some different angles I think there was an intentional cross over of his left leg to shove the puck into the net. While I’m no expert on the “distinct kicking motion” rule I do believe there was intent to use his skate to score. This doesn’t mean that bwf doesn’t have a case about how bad the refs have been. Look how Canada got screwed yesterday in the gold medal game against Finland. It’s disgraceful that one man’s view can decide a game/series. I realize that you can’t look at every bad call or a game might last for hours but in deciding games it might be of interest to change the way bad calls are handled.
