Boys played a fantastic game. Maybe we just needed to question them whether they could play a full 60. And we are undefeated this year.

This team has it all when they want to show it. LA is a good team but the Leafs really grinded last night. That’s what’s so frustrating. They don’t grind like that every game.

I think what they've learned from Tampa Bay and Florida is that you don't have to win the division, you just have to make the playoffs. Home ice is nice, but in the grand scheme, it doesn't really matter.
Domi and Bertuzzi were brought in for their type of play in the playoffs, so as long as they don't mess up too badly in the regular season, I'm okay with them.
Both played a good game against the Kings.

Well I had the best of intentions but you know how that goes. I started dozing in the first which was after midnight here so I decided to tape the rest and head to bed but, with about 5 minutes left in the period, my rescue cat jumped up on mr in the lazy-boy so that was that. I woke up thinking it was the beginning of the second but there was only 7 minutes left and we were ahead 2-0 so I had to back track to see the goals at least. THEN I went to bed and watched the third in the morning.

I didn't see the game, but I've read they played a really strong 60 minute game. I'd like to take it as a good sign moving forward, but sadly efforts like this are few and far between. I'm curious to see how they play against the bottom feeders, Anaheim and the horrible San Jose Sharks.

I didn't even try to watch. Watched highlites.. Glad for the points and the Jones shutout. But not for one minute getting sucked back in. One shutout win does not undo the big picture..
Now I hear Nylander 8 years around 11.6.. they just don't learn. I love Willy but the insanity cont. Who knows what Mitch will want. No one in organization learns from the past.

I had the L.A. broadcast and they said lots of good things about Matthews and Nylander. They played a really good game and Jones was good in net. They won it in regulation too. I was happy for Jones getting the Shut Out. It was also the 1st time this season the Kings were shut out.
When Dubois ran Matthews into the boards I was glad to see Benoit go after Dubois. When the Kings thought they had a goal at the 6 minute mark of period 3, I was very pleased the Refs called it goalie interference. It was the right call. So many times things like that have happened with either no call, or the Refs didn't make the right call. For once, it went for the Leafs. As they started period 3 they said the Kings had 9 turnovers in period 2, and for 2 periods played the Leafs only had 4 turnovers and the Kings had 11.

Yes, they did talk about Nylander's contract several times. 8 years and $10M or more. He is 28 years old. At 8 years he would be 36 years old at the end of his contract. I'm not sure he will still be this good at 36. He might be, but he might not be. I would rather 5 years, or 6 years at the most. And they better not give him a NMC. Dubas was stupid to give so many NMC's to the players.

Often times they talk about the first part of the contract being underpaid and then later on less so everything balances out. Either way he's going to make a ton of money and you know Mitch will probably get even more because he's the golden child.

Yes, romour is they'll settle on $11.25 milllion for 8 years. THat would be good for him but not good for drafting better D men,or keepin g them if we get lucky.
