Leafs got 2 pts., so that is most important. 3rd period with Oilers 2 PPs sort of deflated the Leafs, but at least they won. Leafs are pretty much matched. Both teams are in 5th place in their conferences. With this win, Leafs have 89 pts. and won 2. Oilers are 88 pts. and lost 1.
I really enjoy when the Leafs chase the opposition's goalie like tonight, and the penalty with game misconduct at the end of period 2 was enjoyable too.

Thought I heard a report that Keefe didn’t think Sammy’s injury was going to be too bad. Hope I heard right. I was at grandsons bday party and the place was crazy with kids running around.

The first 2 periods looked great tonight and then reality crept back in as the 3rd period started. I too loved Edmundson’s and McCabe’s play. That is exactly what we need. Nice to see the unheralded guys score 2 goals apiece. The 3rd period was brutal but we got the 2 points. Benoit had a rough night. I’m hoping Sammy’s injury isn’t as bad as it looked.

It bothers me how nitwit doesn't give Robertson a chance to succeed. 9 minutes and primarily 4th line with Reaves. He can't play his game there.

And yet he continues to slot Knies in with the big boys. Knies has not shown me that he can play with Matthews, Marner, Willie. He is a kid still, maybe someday, but not now imo. He makes too many mistakes, especially in the dzone, which rookies are going to. I think he tries to do too much and it gets him in trouble. I would also like to see Robertson get a chance, and I mean a real chance. Not just one game and it’s like, he was mediocre, let’s put him on the 4th line again.

I tried to quote and comment not sure what happened anyway I agree. Kneis has no business being on top line. Heck Holm erg looks better there or McCann. Kneis needs more development.
These are things why I can't get on board with Keefe. His record is amazing and statistically great. But come playoff times his faults come to the forefront.

Keefe has two of his best defensive forwards on the shelf so he’s trying to piece together lines that won’t get in trouble. Yes Knies does not belong on the top line but he’s played there before, is better than Nick defensively and applies better pressure against opponents. Really like Nicks shoot first mentality and I think there is a place for him on the team but not in a big stretch drive game like last night.

Edmundson played as he was advertised last night. He was physical, tough and gritty. Keep it up big fella! Difference Maker.

Agreed. Hit McJesus hard which I loved and was great defending around the net and not afraid to mix it up. Got the belt after the game. McCabe was hard on it all night too. Heard a couple of post game comments about defending in “layers” and last night was a great example of that. If a Leaf was in trouble with the puck there was great support from teammates all night long. How I wish they could bring this type of game every night til the end of June.😁 Hopefully Sammy is good to go. Another tough game today. Need the brick Woll standing toll today!!
GO LEAFS GO!!

I'm liking Domi on the top line more and more. I really like the idea of keeping him there. Marner should be on the third line when he returns, perhaps with Holmberg centering that line and Knies on LW.
McMann is looking more and more like the real deal. Not a spectacular player, but a highly effective one -- and that's exactly the type of player you needs to complement the core four.
Edmundson/Liljegren looks like a keeper. I'm seeing more and more why they traded for Edmundson; he is a definite upgrade over Benoit, who (as Kazzie pointed out) had another rough night.
Should be interesting to see what they do when Jarnkrok, Marner and Lyubushkin are healthy again.

Should be interesting to see what they do when Jarnkrok, Marner and Lyubushkin are healthy again. I like Domi up there as well, but Keefe can’t put MM on the 3rd line, he’s not a 3rd liner. I am much more comfortable with Tavares on the 3rd line than Marner, although one is a Center and one right winger. I’d be interested to see everyone’s thoughts on the Leafs best lineup heading into the playoffs? If I had to ice a playoff team now, this would be my lineup. Domi Matthews Marner Bertuzzi Tavares Nylander McMann Holmberg Jarnkrok Knies Kampf Dewar It’s really tough to pick the 4th line, as I like Gregor when he plays like he did last night, lots of speed and taking the puck to the net. Reeves has been a lot better recently. Unfortunately, that leaves Robertson out of the mix, because I don’t like him as a 4th liner, such a waste of offensive talent. Knies is the guy who needs to step up, and if he doesn’t, sit him in the bleachers for a couple of games? It seems to me that he has been untouchable, and he makes as many or more mistakes than Robertson, but Knies has the size. On D Reilly McCabe Liljegren Edmundson Brodie Lyubushkin I hate to sit Benoit. Yes, he had a tough night last night, but I really like his physicality and the way he pushes the puck offensively. I also thought Timmons was alright last night, and I like what he brings offensively as well. I would put a short leash on Brodie and if he doesn’t improve, sit him for Benoit. It’s hard to believe that Brodie has the best +- of all of our dmen? Big game today against a good team that we should hav3 beat in the last game, another blown lead. Go Leafs!

Timmins made the play on the 3 on 1 where Holmberg scored. Didnt get an apple but went right to the puck carrier when he left the box and chipped it to the forwards. Smart play. When this team plays like it did last night they are a treat to watch. Yes the 3rd was dicey but not every man advantage situation can be stopped. I wouldn’t mind seeing Bertuzzi with Domi and Auston some more with Mitch n Willy centred by JT. Tavares was really good last night. He must know his window is closing on a ring.
