If the situation did arise and Quinn was relieved of his coaching duties, are there any serious considerations for the job? I am sure the name Ted Nolan would come up. But is there any new blood out there. I know CL had mentioned Mike Foligno a while back. If Mike coaches like he played at least they would have someone with life behind the bench. I wouldn't mind Larry Robinson given a look see. How about Quennevile if he is let go in St. Louis. Any junior coaches ready for the jump? I realize that this could be a pipe dream to even think about a new coach but hey it is almost summer herre. I would not want to see any Sutter or Kevin Constantine back there.

It will be a high profile coach. The Leafs will not take a chance on Mike Foligno, UNLESS they are re-building!
IF Quinn's let go, and with the need for D, I'd bet money on Robinson being our next coach.
T.Nolan has a .500% winning record. Not sure why he's suppose to be this great coach.
Lets hope B.Gainey is the GM! Noone lese out there qualified but him

I agree abou Nolan. This guy is a puzzle to me. one great year in buffalo and then everyone has dubbed him the new Toe Blake but yet he never gets hired? I thik robinsom would be fine, as well as Gainey. But i do not want to see Gainey come in and work both roles like Quinn did. I think he did that for a bit in Dallas until he had enough and knew enough to back off.

I don't want ANY coach on the Leafs that would make them play the Trap. That would be a huge disappointment. I don't care if Trap teams do win. They aren't the only teams to win. It is such boring hockey and it would hurt alot to see the Leafs reduced to boring hockey.

(unlike Burns who is a trapping coach). If it means winning a cup; I'd sacrifice a year of playing Trap. but the players on the Leafs team is not a team who is paitent. They would play the trap for maybe, what, 20 games, and go rough and tumble hockey just the way they (we) like it. I'd go with a no name brand coach, just look at Babco*k and Tippet. I'm not really sold on Nolan, there has to be a reason (other then the Buffalo Incident) why NO ONE (even the Rangers) won't hire him. Apparently McTavish is out of Edmonton, what do y'all think about him?

You know the whole trapping conflict all depends on how your favourite team plays, if your team wins that way you are all for it, if you are the team that is getting trapped you hate it, that's the way I look at it. I distinctly remember when Burns was here as Coach, not very many people were screaming because he was preaching defence first, also there was a lot of very happy fans because we were winning on a consistant basis.
So Pam something tells me that if we played the trap and won 75-80% of the games I dare say the Leaf fans who hated the trap are not going to be going onto boards much like this one and complain about our modus operandi.

The trap is boring even if I like a team. A team really doesn't have to play boring hockey like the Devils, and a few others, to win. It can still be fun and defensive.

How so not boring? Well the Leafs have never been boring IMO. But the Devils are. If the Leafs played like the Devils they would be boring too. In the 2001/2002 season the Sharks were more defensive and they weren't boring. Yeah they lost in Round 2, but I think if Forsberg hadn't made the Dirty check on Nolan to take him out of the game, then they might not been eliminated (Selanne screwed up big time too, which didn't help either).
