Toronto Maple Leafs president Ken Dryden says he has not spoken to anyone else about the head coaching position with the hockey team.
Dryden downplayed reports in the Globe and Mail which claim he has spoken to Edmonton Oilers Craig MacTavish about the Toronto post.
MacTavish's contract with Edmonton expires at the end of June and he is undecided about returning with the Oilers.
"I have spoken to one person about coaching the Toronto Maple Leafs and that was Pat Quinn and that was five years ago," Dryden told The Fan all-sports radio station Tuesday. "I've spoken to no one else since that time.
"I think I've met Craig MacTavish once. I've never spoken with him."
The Globe and Mail says hiring MacTavish as coach could be the first in a series of moves which could result in the departure of current head coach and general manager Pat Quinn.
Last summer, it was reported that Dryden was interested in hiring Bob Gainey to take over the general manager's duties with the Leafs, leaving Quinn to handle the head coaching portfolio.
Quinn's dual role with the team has been the subject of much speculation following Toronto's first round loss to the Philadelphia Flyers.

I think Quinn should be fired from both jobs, but if he is only fired from 1 job, I HOPE it's the GM Job. If we have to be stuck with him for 1 or 2 more years, I could tolerate him as Coach, but I would groan if it was as GM instead. All he can do as GM is further ruin the team.

according to Roberts, Quinn is a good coach, he'd be awesome if he'd communicate GM, they need desperatly...but imagine if they brought one in. Hoglund gone Berg gone Lumme gone who'd be Quinn's fan club?
