Okay, with the CBA coming up, why are all these players demanding big money with three years? I think that it's rather odd that Wesley, and other players are asking for three years guranteed to stay with their said teams.
I'm not a huge fan of Quinn and co. but why can't we just be paitent for 1 more year. Then we're rid of him; I doubt that whomever is in charge is going to keep Quinn past his contractial obligations; nor will it make sense to get rid of him, considering all the prices MLSE would have to pay. It's cheaper and makes a heck of a lot more sense to keep him then ditch him for breach of contract.
We've waited this long; what's litterly one more year?
Yuskevitch wants to come back to Toronto; and with the defense shaping out the way it is, Quinn might just have to swollow his pride and sign him for whatever his demands are. He was very solid here, and no question would be solid again. Clarke said publically they were letting Yuskevitch walk, but will try to re-sign Dejardins, though thoughts were leading to the fact that Dejardins, like so many, would play with the idea of UFAism. Dejardins might be a player Quinn will target July 1st.

Yushkevich has no desire to return to Toronto but with diminishing skills and an increasingly fragile body, his options maybe limited enough to force him to include a defensively desperate team like the Leafs.
Desjardins would just be another player one or two years past their prime that Quinn seems to like to collect. The Leafs are the oldest team in the league. Why do we want another overpaid geezer?
Players are asking for the three year guaranteed term so that they can ensure themselves of getting paid in a potential lockout. A lockout some people have suggested will go a minimum of one year and quite possibly a good part of the next.
Quinn has two more years to run on his current deal. He's covered his butt no matter what happens.

He's covered his butt no matter what happens. Isn't the two years, this year coming, and 2004? his contract was to have run out this year, if I can remember. thanks for the update on the whole third year thing. the Leafs are only the oldest team in the league by 0.5 behind the Wings. Dejardins might be an overpaid "geezer" but he was a force in the playoffs until he got hurt, and it's not like he's soft, or not defensively sound in his own zone either. I'd rather have Desjardin then Lumme if that option was presented to me. he's not THE answer; but he could be an option. no matter who the player(s) are, if they play defense, they hold the card on Quinn, because they both know that the Leafs need defense, and they can overprice themselves. the question is will Quinn bite?
