Its starting to really ramp up in Western Oregon - going west from Portland to the Coast and moving south along inland, spread down 3 more counties from last week, and up 1 county towards Tillamook County (only 1 small county away now).
Last Monday there were 10 cases in Oregon. Last Wednesday 21 cases. Last Friday 32 cases. Monday 42 cases, Tuesday 47 cases. Today 75 cases. But I live at the top/north end of Tillamook County with no cases in Tillamook county yet. 5 people were tested in Tillamook County on Monday, with all 5 negative for it.
So far only 3 deaths, all older adults with health problems. However, every death effects families of these deaths, so my heart goes out to them. I'm not panicking, but I am staying house bound and only go out when necessary, and I wash my hands a lot even at home. I am older with a compromised immune system - Asthma, and so many allergies the doctor referred to me as an allergic person (was said in humour due to all my allergies).
Tillamook County shut down all county offices effective this week. Groups of more than 25 is banned. Our schools are closed until at least April 28th, Libraries are closed along with State Parks. Tillamook (City), Garibaldi, Manzanita and Nehalem have closed down city offices. Sheriff and Police departments are closed to all but necessary walk-ins, with most of their business by phone, Oregon is talking about closing down. Restaurants are closed to all but deliver and take out. And due to all the business closures, both large and small, people are being laid off.
This is something Oregon is now thinking about: Is it time to lock down Oregon to slow the coronavirus? San Francisco is doing it, so are Spain and Italy. The logical question now on many people’s minds: Has the time come for a societal lockdown? What does it look like? And how long would it last?
San Francisco and some neighboring communities on Tuesday became the first large metro area in the nation to take such drastic measures after California leaders issued a shelter-in-place order.
It mandates that about 7 million residents stay home except to get food, seek necessary medical care or go to “essential” jobs for at least the next three weeks.

I expect the Conavirus to hit Tillamook County soon. As of 2 hours ago there are 114 positive cases in Oregon, with some test results pending. 4 cases are now in the County next to mine - Yamhill County - which runs from the Southeast corner of Tillamook County up to the middle of the eastern side of Tillamook county. The virus basically is in all counties around us except for Clatsop County, the County directly above my county. I've mostly been self-isolating myself. I had to go out Wednesday for some additional food to carry me at least 2 weeks into April, but I have been very careful and I triple disinfected every inch of the cart before touching it.

I mentioned Clatsop County, the county above me, along with my county - Tillamook - didn't have cases of Conavirus. As of today Clatsop County has 1 case of Covid-19, and Polk County that only had 1 case now has 3 cases. So my county is surrounded with Covid-19. As of today there are 192 cases in Northwestern Oregon, with 31 new cases since Saturday. It has also spread south. Gratefully deaths are still at 5.
People older than 55 account for 103 of the confirmed cases in Oregon 65 are between 35 and 54 15 are between 25 and 34 5 are between 18 and 24 4 others are under 17
The bad thing about the coast is we only have 1 small hospital in Tillamook (town) and they aren't equipped to handle Covid-19 if there is a large breakout. People have to go to Oregon hospitals for lots of things in normal times, but Portland has their own Covid-19 to handle, so a large breakout here would be more than Tillamook could handle.
Over the weekend it was nice and sunny at the beaches. People from inland flocked to the beaches from Warrenton, Seaside and Cannon Beach - Clatsop County, to Manzanita, Tillamook, and south and were within arm distance of each other on the beach. Each of these towns ordered the idiot visitors out of town. Today the Governor issued at statement "stay at home." They can go outside for a walk as long as they stay 6 feet away from other people but if that isn't possible to stay inside. If people tried congregating again like they did over the weekend it could mean 30 days in jail or a $1200 fine or both.
Some people just don't seem to get this is a serious pandemic and ignore the stay at home self isolation orders. At least from what I saw in Tillamook people are paying attention and here in Nehalem, and Manzanita 1 mile west of me have taken it seriously and have self isolated, only going out if truly necessary, keeping distance between ourselves.
Conavirus is also starting to move into North Central and Mid Central Oregon by a couple of counties.
I just checked the U.S. cases of Conavirus: 43,449 cases, 545 deaths, 295 recovered.

The numbers continue to rise daily, but so far cases in Clatsop and Polk counties remain the same, with zero cases in Tillamook county.

My area has 7 (fully traceable to the source of infection) and 1 death. But the snowbirds that came home aren't quarantining properly, so that number could rise rapidly in the next 10 to 14 days.
As I typed this, our count is now 9.

It’s sad that a lot of the snowbirds are not self isolating. For those with RVs I get it. There isn’t a lot of fridge space to stock up and be self sufficient but there has to be a way that supplies could be delivered to them. They need to stop for fuel in order to get home. I expect numbers to go up in Canada as people return from Florida, a hotbed for the virus. People need to take this more seriously. This is wiping out thousands of people and not just the elderly and compromised. A perfectly healthy woman died in the UK. The sky really is falling in.

This came in on my Fox News Conavirus alert at 8:29am PT this morning. Hopefully it will help Canada with holding down the covid-19 in Canada
Canada announced it is imposing mandatory self-isolation for those returning to the country under the Quarantine Act.

I saw that. A positive step. I hope it slows down.

I saw that. A positive step. I hope it slows down. Yea, me too. I just read Justin Trudeau's wife tested positive, him negative and put himself in self isolation. Prince Charles has also tested positive.

Prince Charles has also tested positive. I believe JT's wife, while testing positive, has hit the end of her 14 day quarantine and is feeling better.
Any thoughts on "the Donald" appearing to minimize the pandemic and Covid-19 as just another cold or flu? Just out of curiousity. To the Canadian eye, I see him saying things that his followers/voters are lapping up as truths. Ultimately, he may end up killing his voters with his loose lips and half-baked ideas on containment and cures.

While I’m not a big fan of our own PM, Trump scares the sh*t out of me. I’ll leave it at that.

To answer both you TMan and Cap'n Trump scares the sh*t out of me too.
As for my country's lowlife @$$hole, president he truly is an idiot. 2 days ago I read articles, one from Bill Gates and one from an author who's name I don't remember. They both said the same thing about Trump as I did recently. That he isn't really taking this Conavirus pandemic seriously. That his staff told him he had to do something, so he finally issued a country state of emergency. But at the same time he said he would like to see every thing open up again on April 12th. That statement right there shows he STILL doesn't take it seriously. From all indications this pandemic in our countries will last at least 4 months. Right now we haven't even peaked out with Conavirus in the U.S. The government promised in February they would issue help so more testing could be done, but so far they have failed to so it. They are finally issuing protective devices, masks, etc., for health service providers.
I sure hope my country has wised up and votes in a new person as President in November.

More bad news on my end. Numbers came in for Oregon. 50 new cases reported by 3pm today. 317 cases of Conavirus in Oregon with 11 deaths now reported. Tillamook County now has 1 case of Corona virus. This really doesn't surprise me as yesterday I expected by today, or at the latest tomorrow, there would be a Covid-19 case reported in Tillamook.
State reports ages 0-19: 5 20-29: 15 30-39: 32 40-49: 55 50-59: 42 60-69: 57 70-79: 34 80+: 25
54 more cases where age groups not given yet

I’ve got 3 more days of quarantine but I’m not sure if I even want to go out. We need to do a grocery and beer run but after that I’m content to just hole up at home til something good happens.

It looks like Mr. Trump just put a cost on an American life and determined that the federal government was not going to pay for it and then blames Obama. ? ? ? ? WTF
